GEL DES ACCORDS AVEC LA TURQUIE : L’OPPOSITION CRITIQUE LE GOUVERNEMENT

Le principal mouvement d’opposition en Armenie a denonce la decision
du pouvoir de geler la ratification d’accords de normalisation des
relations avec la Turquie, jugeant qu’il avait ainsi terni l’image
du pays.

"En gelant le processus de ratification tout en se disant pretes a
le reprendre, les autorites ont reconnu etre dans une impasse et ne
pas avoir de plan d’action", a indique le Congrès national armenien
(opposition) dans un communique.

Le president armenien, Serge Sarkissian, a annonce jeudi le gel du
processus de ratification des accords historiques devant etablir des
relations diplomatiques avec la Turquie et ouvrir la frontière entre
les deux pays, sans pour autant se retirer du processus.

"Les autorites ont porte atteinte a l’image de l’Armenie en tant que
partenaire previsible et ont cree les conditions pour que l’Armenie
soit presentee comme un pays destructeur sur la scène internationale",
poursuit l’opposition qui appelle a la demission du gouvernement.

Erevan a gele la ratification des accords car la Turquie insiste sur
une resolution du conflit opposant l’Armenie et l’Azerbaïdjan autour
du territoire azerbaïdjanais du Nagorny-Karabakh, de facto contrôlee
par les Armeniens.

La Turquie et l’Armenie, divisees sur la question des massacres
d’Armeniens sous l’Empire ottoman (1915-1917), ont signe en octobre
dernier deux protocoles prevoyant des relations diplomatiques et la
reouverture de leur frontière commune. Erevan qualifie ces massacres
de genocide, un terme que Ankara rejette.

Today Orange launched the special project `Hello Oslo’, dedicated to
Eurovision, one of the most important music events in Armenia. As the
official partner of Eurovision 2010, this year Orange gives the
exclusive opportunity to its subscribers to take part in a special
SMS-quiz and travel to Oslo, to send their wishes and words of
encouregement to the Armenian representative in Eurovision 2010 and
personnally meet her, as well as participate in a special event the
day of broadcast of Eurovision final contest, Orange Armenia press
office informs.

The SMS-quiz consists of two phases. The first phase will end on May
13th and will determine 4 winners who will travel to Oslo and attend
the semi-final and final of Eurovision 2010.

For those who didn’t win during the first phase, the game will
continue until May 25th. The best 125 participants of this phase will
receive many different prizes.

Within `Hello Oslo’ project Orange has also initiated another
SMS-campaign which will provide the possibility to Orange subscribers
to send their best wishes and words of encouragement to the
representative of Armenia in this Song Contest. The authors of the
best wishes, chosen by the representative of Armenia in Eurovision
2010 Eva Rivas, will personally meet with her and get presents from
her.

of Armenia. It will support not only the broadcast of final event,

RA President attended Suzhou Technopark

18:22 / 05/01/2010RA President Serzh Sargsyan being on a visit to
China for the Expo 2010 Shanghai today attended the Technopark in
Jiangsu province, a joint project of Singapore and China. The area of
`Chinese Venice’ is 288 km2 (larger than Yerevan’s administrative
area). By volume of industrial and finished products export Suzhou
comes second only to Shanghai.

Sargsyan also visited `Higer’ Bus company, where was met by the Suzhou
Deputy Mayor Zhou Weiqiang and Higer General Manager Wu Wenwen.

The Suzhou plant employs 4000 people, generating last year a profit of USD 730m.

A civil authorities’ representative stated that Suzhou is interested
in the cooperation development with Armenia in educational, scientific
and cultural fields. RA President and escorting officials toured
around the Higer Bus Company and familiarized themselves with
production process.

Thereafter, Armenian delegation headed to Suzhou Science & Culture
Arts Centre (SSCAC) and had a look at the exhibits.

Besides, Sargsyan met with Mayor of Suzhou Yan Li. `I saw new
opportunities of China, feeling myself like in the city of future. You
almost made a reality the idea underlying the expo’, Sargsyan said
adding that Armenia-China political ties are positive and the economic
development rate should be kept in parallel with political ones.

L’Azerbaïdjan a violé à 1 088 reprises le cessez-le-feu avec le Haut
Karabagh au cours du premier trimestre 2010. Au total selon les
données de l’Armée de la République du Haut Karabagh, les forces de
Bakou ont tiré 7 500 balles ou autres projectiles en direction des
positions arméniennes stationnées à la frontière.

Le mois de mars enregistra un pic de ces violations avec 454 actes
recensés et 2 872 balles tirées en direction Des forces du Haut
Karabagh qui ont de leur côté répliqué « et fait taire l’ennemi »,
selon la formule utilisée régulièrement par le ministère de la Défense
de Stepanakert.

Spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Mr. Andrei Nesterenko
said that Iran’s suggestion on mediation in the Karabakh conflict
resolution basically referred to organization of a trilateral meeting
between the Azerbaijani, Armenian and Iranian Foreign Ministers.

"Naturally, we have no objectionstosuch a meeting. Ifitis
organized,probably, we should wait for its results to speak about
possibility of Iran’s mediation in the process,"Nesterenko told a
briefing in Moscow.

On April 29, President of the Artsakh Republic Bako Sahakyan chaired
a meeting on re-opening of Stepanakert airport.

The meeting was attended by delegation of the RA General Department
of Civil Aviation led by Artyom Movsesyan, Finance Minister of the
Artsakh Republic Spartak Tevosyan and other officials.

Minister of Municipal Engineering of the Artsakh Republic Anahit
Vardanyan and adviser to the NKR Prime Minister Dmitry Atbashyan

President Serzh Sargsyan is leaving for the People’s Republic of China
today at the invitation of China’s President Hu Jintao to participate
in the opening ceremony of Shanghai 2010 World Expo.

Shanghai World Expo takes place once in five years and presents the
achievements of different countries in the fields of economy, science,
education, etc.

The delegation headed by President Sargsyan comprises the Ministers
of Foreign Affairs, Economy, Energy and Natural Resources, other
officials.

Within the framework of the visit President Sargsyan will have a
meeting with the President of China Hu Jintao.

The Armenian President, president of the Armenian Chess Federation
Serzh Sargsyan had a meeting with the members of the national team of
the chess who are going to take part in the World Olympic which will
take place in Chianti Mansiysk, informs the Armenian chess federation.

There are no other details reported, but it is clear that the head of
the country wishes to ascertain once again that the chess team is in
the center of his attention and should tend to preserve the title of
the Olympic champion. And if our champions succeed then Armenia will
be the first country in the world the team of which will become an
Olympic champion for the third time.

RA President Serzh Sargsyan is to visit China on April 29 at
the invitation of President of the People’s Republic of China Hu
Jintao. The Armenian leader will attend the opening ceremony of the
Expo 2010 Shanghai China. The Armenian delegation will also include
RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, as well as the Minister of
economy, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources and other officials.

The RA presidential press office informed NEWS.am that the Armenian
and Chinese leaders are to hold a private meeting.

The Armenian delegation will also visit the city of HIGER BUS Company
Limited, a Chinese bus manufacturer, in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, as
well as the Suzhou center of science, art and culture and innovation
center.

In Datun, Shanghai province, the Armenian leader will attend the
opening ceremony of the Shanxi-Nairit joint venture designed to
produce chloroprene rubber. It is the largest-scale project of
Armenian-Chinese cooperation.

On May 3 the Armenian delegation will return to Yerevan.

session of Orinats Yerki’s political council, Stepan Aslanyan, deputy
of RA National Assembly, member of the NA Orinats Yerkir faction,
will put down his parliamentary mandate. In the application, Stepan
Aslanyan accounted for it by that he got another job. An official
from the press service of Orinats Yerkir told Armenpress that Stepan
Aslanyan will be replaced by Gagik Baghdasaryan, the next member in the
proportional list of the party. According to another decision of the
council, the party established an economic, analytical and strategic
center. Gagik Margaryan, chief executive of the Union of Manufacturers
and Businessmen (Employers) of Armenia, was elected the head of center.
