Memoire: La Rafle Meconnue Du 20 Aout 1941

a Auschwitz.

Certains furent donc liberes assez
rapidement (malades, handicapes, vieillards…),

REPETITION OF LIBYAN SCENARIO IN SYRIA WILL PROVE DISASTROUS FOR THE ARMENIAN COMMUNITY

Armenia

Yerevan/Mediamax/. Orientalist Suren Manukyan, Deputy Director of the
Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, said today that “the repetition of
the Libyan scenario in Syria will prove disastrous for the country’s
Armenian community”.

Suren Manukyan said that Syrian Armenians back current President
Bashar Assad and the repetition of the Libyan experience will have
negative consequences for the Armenians, Mediamax reports.

According to him, Armenians support Assad as they see him as a
guarantor for their security. Suren Manukyan thinks that in case of
intrusion of external forces, the Armenian community of Syria will
suffer the same fate as the Iraqi Armenians.

Meanwhile, he noted that international intrusion into Syria is unlikely
to happen in the foreseeable future.

Ter-Petrosian Bloc Again Criticized By Opposition Rival

TER-PETROSIAN BLOC AGAIN CRITICIZED BY OPPOSITION RIVAL
Karlen Aslanian

Armenialiberty.org
Aug 24, 2011

The Armenian National Congress (HAK) has ceased to represent a
credible alternative to Armenia’s current leadership, a leader of
another major opposition force claimed on Wednesday.

Stepan Safarian reaffirmed the Zharangutyun (Heritage) party’s strong
criticism of the ongoing negotiations between the HAK and President
Serzh Sarkisian’s governing coalition.

“The Armenian National Congress, which was perceived to be an
alternative to these authorities in 2008, today … cannot be regarded
as such,” Safarian told journalists during a public debate with a
pro-government lawmaker. “For alternatives exist in cases where there
are alternative approaches and evaluations on many key issues.”

“One side writes up 80 pages [of written HAK arguments,] then the
other asks for two weeks’ time to read them,” he said, ridiculing
the dialogue. “Then the other side writes up 130 pages [of
counterarguments,] after which they start praising each other.”

But Artak Zakarian, a parliament deputy from Sarkisian’s Republican
Party of Armenia (HHK), defended the dialogue, saying that it is
“working.” He argued that the negotiating parties need time to consider
each other’s proposals and come up with counterarguments.

The HAK says that the main purpose of the dialogue is to force the
Sarkisian administration to call fresh presidential and parliamentary
elections. The alliance led by former President Levon Ter-Petrosian
has threatened to launch a campaign of “civil disobedience” if the
authorities continue to reject its key demand.

Zharangutyun as well as the Armenian Revolutionary Federation
(Dashnaktsutyun), the other major opposition party represented in
parliament, dismiss these statements. They claim that the talk of
snap polls is a smokescreen for the HAK’s readiness to cut secret
deals with Sarkisian.

Ter-Petrosian has repeatedly condemned these verbal attacks. He and
his associates have also said that the HAK is the country’s only
genuine opposition force.

Armenia, Georgia Seeking Jet Fuel Import

ARMENIA, GEORGIA SEEKING JET FUEL IMPORT

Zawya.com
Aug 24, 2011

Iran is in talks with Armenia and Georgia for export of jet fuel,
managing director of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company
(NIOPDC) said.

Jalil Salari told Mehr News Agency that with the implementation of a
number of refining projects and modifications in oil refining process,
the export of oil byproducts will rise.

According to Salari, Iran is one of the biggest producers and exporters
of furnace oil in the Middle East.

On the latest position in export, the official said some 500 million
liters of oil byproducts have been exported since the beginning of the
current Iranian year which started on March 21. He added that last year
a total of 1.5 billion liters of various oil byproducts were exported.

He noted that some one billion liters of base gasoline, 250 million
liters of oil byproducts, and 250 million liters of liquid fuel were
supplied to global markets via bunkering in the last Iranian year.

Currently, East and Southeast Asian countries are among the major
buyers of Iranian oil byproducts, added the official.

Turning to oil swap, Salari said Iran has the capacity to swap about
500,000 barrels of crude oil daily, adding the country has created
infrastructures to facilitate the export, transit, and swap of oil
byproducts.

The official further said currently an average of 3 million liters of
oil products are swapped daily via Iran. So far several contracts for
the export of oil products have been signed with Afghanistan and Iraq,
Salari added.

Top Gasoline Exporter Meanwhile, oil minister has underlined Iran’s
self-sufficiency in producing the needed gasoline for the country,
and said Tehran will turn into a major oil exporter in the world
after launching more refineries.

“Presently we are self-sufficient in production of gasoline. Once
the new refineries become operational throughout Iran in the next
couple of years, we will be one of the major gasoline exporters in
the world,” Rostam Qassemi said on Monday.

Touching on the news on ordering the import of 14 million liters
of gasoline, he reiterated, “There is no need to import gasoline
at present, but we might need to import some substances for its
production,” according to Fars News Agency.

The world’s fifth-biggest crude oil exporter has long depended on
imported gasoline for 30 to 40 percent of its consumption, but now
has become a net exporter.

In April, the National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company
(NIOEC) announced that Iran was set to increase its gasoline output
by more than four times, from the current 42 million liters (11.09
million gallons) per day to 186 million liters (49.1 million gallons)
per day in a five-year period. Also earlier in April, Iran’s former
oil minister, Massoud Mirkazemi announced that the country planned
to increase its daily gasoline output by 22 million liters this year.

Criminal Case Launched In Connection With Shots Heard In Armenian MP

CRIMINAL CASE LAUNCHED IN CONNECTION WITH SHOTS HEARD IN ARMENIAN MP’S RESTAURANT

epress.am
08.24.2011

As directed by General Prosecutor of Armenia Aghvan Hovsepyan, a
criminal case was initiated today in connection with the incident on
the night of Aug. 14 in the restaurant complex “Harsnaqar,” reports
RFE/RL’s Armenian service, citing the press service of the RA General
Prosecutor’s Office.

Recall, as a result of shots heard in Harsnaqar on the night of Aug.

14, two people were hospitalized. Media reported that during a wedding
celebration, an altercation took place which was intercepted by Ruben
Hayrapetyan’s bodyguard by the nickname of Yezidi Ashot. Local press
reported that he shot and injured 2 people, one of whom was Norik
Atoyan, 33, the bodyguard of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s
brother Sashik Sargsyan.

Earlier today, during a meeting with reporters, Hovsepyan said that
he learned about the incident from the press and instructed his staff
to check whether a criminal case had been launched or not.

“In any case, if there is an incident, a crime, they are preceded
by certain checks,” he said, replying to RFE/RL Armenian service’s
question as to why a criminal case hadn’t been launched until now.

To an observation by reporters that perhaps the lack of initiating
a criminal case was due to the fact that the shots were heard in a
restaurant owned by ruling party MP and prominent businessman Ruben
Hayrapetyan, Aghvan Hovsepyan only said that he instructed his staff
to look into the incident.
