YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS: On September 30 the documentary film
“Orphans of the Genocide” will be screened at Woodbury University
in Burbank. Four-time regional Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Bared
Maronian will present the broadcast version of the film to the public.

The event is organized by Ararat-Eskijian Museum.

As reported by Armenpress, quoting Asbarez.com, the American Armenian
famous scientist, professor, Armenian Genocide specialist, historian
and the Director of the Genocide Research at “Zoryan” Institute
Vahakn Dadryan as well will perform a speech at the event. The
documentary award-winning filmmaker Bared Maronian has already
presented the shorter version of the film “Orphans of the Genocide”
to the American Armenians and the complete version of the movie will
shortly be completed and screened.

In 2011 the shorter version of the film was granted with Telly
International Award and currently it has been nominated for Emmy
Award. The works of the documentary started with the Antoura Orphanage
in Lebanon, then passing through the Western and Eastern Americas,
come to the final harbor – Armenia. The motivation of the film came
for the article of the famous journalist Robert Fisk about the Antoura
Orphanage in Lebanon, where 1,000 Armenian orphans were stripped of
their identity and Turkified.

For the film making Bared Maronian was inspired by the questions if
the hundreds of thousands of Armenian orphans left after the World
War I are not enough to prove the world that the Armenian Genocide
is a historical fact.

Infertility Rate In Armenia Grows Due To Stresses, Specialists Say

INFERTILITY RATE IN ARMENIA GROWS DUE TO STRESSES, SPECIALISTS SAY

The infertility rate has grown while the causes still remain the same,
gynecologist Georgi Poghosyan told the reporters today.

He stressed that if years ago the main causes of infertility were
infections, inflammatory processes, currently they have been driven
to second plan, conceding to endocrine disturbances mainly connected
with stresses.

“The cases of miscarriages have also grown in number, again due to
stresses. Today the generation that lived during the dark years,
not having normal food, not having rest during summer, not having
electricity gives birth. Now we have cases when viruses raise their
heads and the resistance level goes down,” Poghosyan said.

Speaking about men’s infertility the gynecologist said very often
their sperm is harmed because of stresses.

“The bad sexual life that starts from the beginning of the marriage
called debut impotence also causes problems. Psychological factor
plays a significant role here,” he said.

Poghosyan claims before marriage the couple should be examined to
avoid possible infections.

Sexologist Vrezh Shahramanyan said the increase of infertility rate
is agreed with outgoing work as well. “The men have casual sexual
relations abroad and infect their wives after returning,” he said.

Sexologist said the 12% of infertile men have sexual problems too.

ARMENIA CHEATS DIASPORA INVESTORS; A FUND ESTABLISHED IN THE U.S. TO PROTECT INVESTORS’ INTERESTS

arminfo
Tuesday, September 25, 21:28

A fund has been established in the United States to protect the
interests of Armenian Diaspora investors, Nikolay Baghdasaryan and
Lernik Hovhannisyan, lawyers of Diaspora investor Edmond Khudyan,
said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Baghdasaryan said that several dozens of investors, whose interests
were infringed in Armenia, have already applied to the fund. The
lawyer stressed that throughout his law practice he has defended the
interests of many large investment companies, which got disappointed
and left Armenia. He thinks that the Diaspora investors do not just
seek to obtain profit; in fact, they are eager to help their historical
Motherland, therefore, the Diaspora Armenians’ investments should
be protected first of all. “If they cheat, for instance, an Italian
investor, the latter spits upon the affairs in Armenia and leaves
for Georgia. But when we cheat an investor from Diaspora, we lose the
last lever to attract investments”, Baghdasaryan said. He added that
only the investors from Diaspora are trying to consistently fight the
lawlessness in Armenia. This is why relevant steps have been taken
to unite the efforts and protect their interests in the country.

Baghdasaryan also pointed out that the case of Edmond Khudyan is
one of the most outrageous cases from the viewpoint of infringement
of the investor’s rights. He made share investments in housing
construction. Khudyan built a 10-storey building in Mashtots Avenue,
33/1 in Yerevan. Khudyan and Arin Capital investment company owned
by local businessman Vladislav Mangasaryan came to an agreement that
the company would build the last two storeys, do the finishing work
in the building, sell the apartments and provide the agreed amount
of the receipts to Edmond Khudyan. Mangasaryan sold the apartments
at some price but fixed a lower sum in the documents. Moreover,
by means of another company he owns (VMG), Mangasaryan allegedly
lent some amount to some company, but in fact made no transfer, and
allegedly received back these funds some time later. Baghdasaryan
said that the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia assured him
that the specified facts were confirmed on the basis of agreements,
but on the other hand, the Prosecutor’s Office has been checking the
facts of money transfer for half a year.

Baghdasaryan said that because of Mangasaryan’s illegal activities the
state alone has sustained losses worth $1.5mln. “In Khudyan’s case
Arin Capital is charged with fraudulent bankruptcy while it should
have been accused of writing off (laundering) several millions of US
dollars,” the lawyer said.

Hovhannisyan said that one more big Diaspora investor Saro Hartunian
has lost $1.26mln because of the activities of Mangasaryan’s group.

Hartunian’s and Khudyan’s lawyers filed two separate suits, but
the office of the prosecutor general combined them into one case
and resent it to investigator of Armenia’s State Income Committee
Tigran Harutyunyan. “Until now the Mangasaryan has not been summoned
to testify. Nobody is yet suspected, while Khudyan has not yet been
recognized as aggrieved. They are simply trying to cover up this
crime,” Hovhannisyan said.

Khudyan said that his company has lost as much as $8.5mln during
the construction of a building in Mashtots Avenue. He complained
to the State Income Committee in Nov 2010 in hope that the taxation
authorities would force Mangasaryan’s company to repay $1.5mln in tax
debts and would inquire into the forgery of warrants and Khudyan’s
signatures, but both the committee and the office of the prosecutor
general preferred to cover up the crime. So, now Khudyan is going to
appeal to the European courts.

WHY DID THE AUTHORITIES START TO STEAL UNDER LEVON-TER PETROSYAN’ S RULE?

09:33 | 2012-09-25 | Press Review | Armenia |

One of the journalists of “Aravot” daily tried to analyze the situation
of Armenia and give solution to the crisis.

“I should recall that on September 21, Levon Ter-Petrosyan (First
president of Armenia) made a speech saying that the corruption
and stealing comes from the authorities. According to him, if the
government becomes “”kind”, then no stealing would happen. We
understand from his speech that when he was on the power, the
authorities were stealing too, then why didn’t he prevent it? I’m not
saying that he was one of them, no, but if so, he could have done it.

In 1995 the 50 % of members of National Assembly were stealers
(now the 70 %). I want to know when our government will become
“kind”? Just sitting won’t give us any result. The corruption that
we have now can’t be connected with our nation, out way of thinking
and culture. I exclude all these options. Only authorities are to be
blamed. I’m sure that only control can help to solve the issue! If
in every sphere there would be controlling cameras, so no corruption
would happen. For example if you bring something and you are stopped
on the country board, and are told to pay a “tax ” to pass. If there
would be a camera, they wouldn’t do such things. So in a word, only
control can help our country to develop.

ARAVOT: RETIRED GENERAL ADDRESSES OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT

tert.am

A retired general and a veteran of the Nagorno-Karabakh war, Artur
Alexanyan, has turned to the president with an open letter, addressing
the economic situation in Armenia.

There he particularly says:

“To be frank, this is not the country I used to dream about. As
your companion-in-arms, I declare openly that it is impossible to
have business loans and ensure normal profit in Armenia by legal
means, without winning over someone or returning money [the so-called
kickback]. It is in the order of things to have good connections in the
upper circles or give the kickback before thinking about a product,
which in turn is of a poor quality as a high-quality product would
not ensure any profit in the aftermath of all this. This is why it
is advantageous to a businessman to import everything from abroad
with high prices and long travel costs, giving a 10% kickback and
ensuring another 10% for himself. ”
