TERRORISTS ATTACKED ON ARMENIAN KESSAB ON TURKEY PM’S ORDER – SYRIAN MILITARY COMMANDER

March 26, 2014 | 00:04

Birgun daily of Turkey spoke with Mihraj Ural, a commander of the
Syrian government troops that are fighting against the terrorists who
have infiltrated into Syria’s predominantly Armenian-populated town
of Kessab, and he blamed Turkey PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan for these
terrorist attacks.

During a telephone interview, Ural noted that he is in Kessab at the
moment, and fighting against the gangs that have intruded from Turkey.

“We are fighting against the Jihadist gangs being fed by Erdogan and
the imperialists. The murderers fed by crook Erdogan are attacking
on us,” the Syrian commander said.

He stressed that the groups which are a part and parcel of Al-Qaeda
attacked on Armenian Kessab, but they are defending Kessab because
it is a part of Syria.

Mihraj Ural noted that they were able to repel the Jihadists’ attack,
and have forced them to withdraw, and added that the local residents
are helping the Syrian government troops.

In the early morning on March 21, armed militants from the Jabhat
al-Nusra Islamic terrorist group infiltrated into northern Syria’s
Latakia Governorate, which is predominantly inhabited by Armenians and
Alawites. Two large groups of terrorists had launched the attack from
Turkey. Numerous displaced Kessab Armenians are currently sheltered
in Latakia city. On March 23, Turkish fighter planes downed in Kessab
a Syrian military aircraft that was conducting a mission against the
Islamic terrorists.

Armenia: Magnifica Opcion Turistica Ubicada Entre Europa Y Asia

ARMENIA: MAGNIFICA OPCION TURISTICA UBICADA ENTRE EUROPA Y ASIA

El Día (Argentina)
25 marzo 2014

Estados Unidos, Francia y Argentina.

IL PATRIARCA ARMENO CATTOLICO: I CRISTIANI FUGGITI DA KESSAB AFFRONTANO L’EMERGENZA CON SPIRITO DI COMUNIONE

Agenzia Fides, Italia
25 marzo 2014

armena, occupata dalle milizie ribelli anti-Assad all’alba del 21
marzo.
I ribelli arrivavano
dalle montagne al confine con la Turchia. Erano tanti e ben armati.

celebrato messa insieme. Ho sentito il nostro parroco Nareg, e l’ho
incoraggiato a stare vicino a tutti i fedeli, in questo momento
difficile.
(GV) (Agenzia Fides 25/3/2014).

Boxing: Shakhnazaryan Vs. Lora Added To Avanesyan-Mabuza Bill

SHAKHNAZARYAN VS. LORA ADDED TO AVANESYAN-MABUZA BILL

Boxing Scene
March 25 2014

By Alexey Sukachev

It looks like a big Armenian homecoming as yet another talented
Russia-born Armenian has been added to the fight card on April 18 in
Krasnodar, the capital of the region with a huge Armenian population.

The entire show is being promoted by Kirill Pchenlinkov and his
boxing company.

A new and welcome add-on to the list is Aik “Humanoid” Shakhnazaryan
(11-0, 4 KOs), a 20-year old light welterweight boxer-puncher, who has
been riding pretty high recently. Shakhnazaryan, who is coming off
an impressive second-round stoppage of former amateur star Alisher
Rakhimov just two weeks ago, will have a chance to capture the WBO
Europe 140lb title.

Humanoid is in for a tough test of his manhood against dangerous WBO
#14 Dominican upset artist Felix Lora (17-10-5, 9 KOs), a reigning
beltholder. Lora has sensationally outpointed 33-2 former world title
challenger Sergey Fedchenko in his recent outing while fighting on
his opponent’s home turf. He has previously stolen 0’s from Polish
fighters Krzysztof Szot (14-0-1) and Krysztof Cieslak (15-0), Italian
Massimiliano Ballisai (15-0) and American Marlon Davis (9-0-1).

In the main event, welterweight David Avanesyan (16-1-1, 9 KOs)
takes on former IBO light welterweight champion and ex-world title
challenger Kaizer Mabuza (25-10-3, 15 KOs).

Two Pharaoh Statues Unveiled In Egypt; German-Armenia Archaeologist

TWO PHARAOH STATUES UNVEILED IN EGYPT; GERMAN-ARMENIA ARCHAEOLOGIST LEADING THE PROJECT OF THEIR CONSERVATION

15:16 25.03.2014

Archaeologists have revealed two massive statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep
III in the famous Egyptian city of Luxor, at their original sites in
the funerary temple of the king, on the west bank of the Nile.

The two colossal statues will add to an existing pair of monoliths in
the temple, which is already world famous for the 3,400-year-old Memmon
colossi – twin statues of Amenhotep III who ruled during the political
and cultural zenith of ancient Egyptian civilization, AFP reports.

The new statues have been extensively restored, as they have
experienced severe damage over the centuries, according to Hourig
Sourouzian, the German-Armenia archaeologist who is leading the
project to conserve the entire Amenhotep III temple.

“The world until now knew two Memmon colossi, but from today it will
know four colossi of Amenhotep III,” Sourouzian said.

“The statues had lain in pieces for centuries in the fields, damaged by
destructive forces of nature like earthquakes, and later by irrigation
water, salt encroachment and vandalism,” she added.

One of the new statues is of the pharaoh seated; it weighs 250 tons
and is 11.5 meters tall and 3.6 meters wide. It is now missing its
double crown, which would have made it 13.5 meters high and 450 tons
in weight.

Sourouzian said that her team is trying to conserve all these monuments
and the temple itself, which had been left to the mercy of the elements
and suffered at the hands of man.

“Every ruin, every monument has its right to be treated decently. The
idea is to stop the dismantling of monuments and keep them at their
sites,” she said.

ARS Allocates $125,000 To Armenian Community In Syria

ARS ALLOCATES $125,000 TO ARMENIAN COMMUNITY IN SYRIA

By Contributor // March 24, 2014

The Armenian Relief Society Central Executive Board released the
following statement.

In its 22nd plenary meeting, held from March 20-24 in Boston, the
Armenian Relief Society Central Executive Board discussed various
functions being planned for the 100th Commemoration of the Armenian
Genocide in 2015. In addition, as part of its full humanitarian agenda,
the Central Executive Board focused particular attention on assistance
projects for the Syrian-Armenian community.

In view of the recent armed aggression on Kessab, Syria, with
obvious Turkish military assistance, which has resulted in the forced
evacuation of its Armenian population, and after numerous contacts
with the local and ARS Syria regional officials, the board voted to
help the Kessab refugees now sheltered in Latakia with an allocation
of $15,000 to cover their immediate basic needs.

With regard to the on-going assistance program, it was also decided:

To continue, unabated, the active participation of ARS entities in
the united community efforts;

To allocate, at this juncture, $25,000 to the on-going “Warm Meal”
project, started in November, 2012;

To allocate $75,000 to the “School Fund” for the present academic year,
within the context of the aid to Syrian-Armenian schools; and

To allocate $10,000 via ARS Syria Executive Board, to programs designed
to meet the Aleppo Armenians’ basic needs.

Encouraged by the total commitment of the world-wide ARS entities,
the Central Executive Board follows the critical situation in Syria,
formulating new assistance programs as the need arises.
