Fewer Armenian Holiday-Makers Go To Georgia, Travel Agencies Say

FEWER ARMENIAN HOLIDAY-MAKERS GO TO GEORGIA, TRAVEL AGENCIES SAY

16:00 31.07.13

Some of Armenia’s travel agencies claim that fewer Armenian tourists
are now spending their holiday in Georgia, and others do not see any
marked difference.

A woman named Gayane, who went on holiday to Kobuleti, Georgia,
in mid-July, noticed fewer Armenian holiday-makers in Kobuleti and
Batumi this year as compared with last year.

Lessors note this decrease as well. “The locals hope that Armenian
holiday-makers will fill the gap this August because this is the
‘sea season’ for them,” Gayane told Tert.am.

Director of the Rumea tempting trips club Ruben Grigoryan told Tert.am
that fewer Armenian holiday-makers are going to Georgia’s beaches
this year.

“On the other hand, more people are spending their holiday in Armenia –
an increase of about 20%,” he said.

Without mentioning the reason, Grigoryan pointed out a more reasonable
price policy now.

As to Armenian holiday-makers’ preferences – they prefer Georgia’s
Kabuleti to Armenia’s Sevan – Grigoryan said that people normally like
going abroad. Besides, the private sector is not so much involved in
Sevan as in Georgia’s seaside resorts.

He pointed out the need for developing holiday-making culture in
Armenia.

“We have developed this culture in Goris and Dilijan.,” he said.

Anna Aghmeyan, who works for the Amisdat Tour agency, told Tert.am
that the agency is hardly working in Georgia’s market. “I cannot say
anything about other travel agencies, but we have not registered any
serious changes as compared with last year,” she said.

Artyon Asriyan, Director of the Luxe Voyage travel agency, says as
many tourists Armenian holiday-makers go to Georgia now as last year.

Tert.am could not get any specific figures from Armenia’s Ministry
of Economy.

About Surik Khachatryan’s Brother Seyran’s Heroic Deeds And His "Pap

ABOUT SURIK KHACHATRYAN’S BROTHER SEYRAN’S HEROIC DEEDS AND HIS “PAPER OF A MAD” (VIDEO)

[ Part 2.2: “Attached Text” ]

July 30 2013

“Surik Khachatryan’s brothers played a specific role in his organized
criminal group, particularly Seyran Khachatryan (nickname Aghalar
(translator’s note ‘Mince’) and his sons. Everyone knows that it was
Seyran Khachatryan, who in 1999 drunk, armed with a gang, attacked
a number of residents in Goris causing serious bodily injuries. It
was he, who in 2000, carried out an armed attack over the house of
Varazdat, resident of village Verishen with an intention to killing
him. Varazdat hardly threw himself out of the window and rescued his
life in hiding, – said Samvel Harutyunyan, the former Mayor of Goris in
1992-94, co-chair of the Regional Defense Committee, in the interview
with Aravot.am, presenting new disclosures about the crimes related to
the brother of the former Governor of Syunik Marz Surik Khachatryan.

According to him, in 2000, Seyran Khachareyan has shot and seriously
wounded a resident of Goris, a young man named Garik. “He was not
only unpunished for these crimes, he was arrested, a criminal case
was brought up, but shortly after he was given a paper of being
mad and under the auspices of this paper he did not bear criminal
responsibility. In 2000, a collision regarding the incident must
have taken place against me, I applied to the police service
of Goris, the then Attorney General Petrosyan and the regional
attorney of Syunik Marz. I have stated in the application that
the crime occurred because Seyran Khachtryan is not crazy, he was
issued a paper of being crazy, he is the author of a number of
crimes, and he has not been prosecuted. And if he is crazy, his
place is in a madhouse. I have got the answer, but so far Seyran
Khachatryan is not in the jail nor in the madhouse. And after that
he and his sons became authors of numerous crimes. In 2004, his son,
Elnor Khachtryan, together with Serob Khachatryan’s son Mayis, with
cruelty killed a 30 years old resident of Goris Hovhannes Badalyan,
I think the father of 3 underage children. Seyran Khachatryan’s son
was not imprisoned even for 1 day. In 2004, in one of the objects of
Seyran Khachatryan’s unregistered, illegal, not paying taxes, Surik –
Seyran – Serob Khachaturian’s aunt’s grandson, Grigor Manucharyan,
with cruelty killed with an axe a citizen of the Islamic Republic
of Iran and was sentenced to prison for only 13 years.” According to
Samvel Harutyunyan, in 90s, there were very few prisoners sentenced
to death, and afterwards imprisoned that are authors of similar or
more severe offenses. “As far as I know, the overwhelming majority
of lifelong sentenced to imprisonment are convicted for softer,
not so great cruelty of crimes.

It is only in our country that one can get a severe punishment,
and a maximum of mild treatment is displayed against the kind of
Surik Khachatryan and the representatives of their gang.” As for the
property of Aeyran Khachatryan, according to Samvel Harutyunyan, he
has only several objects in the city of Goris and close to it. “One
is immediately adjacent to the village Verishen, he had seized 5,000
square meters of land belonging to Verishen village community, where
he had constructed a food object, and 2 stations in front the object,
one is a petrol filling station, and the other for diesel fuel. This
object has a large parking ground for trucks. He has another object
at the entrance to Goris city, which is again a capital construction,
food object and so on. That gravest crime of the Persian occurred
in the first object. His son has a nightclub in Goris. These kind
of objects are not only undocumented, unregistered, yet they are
operating for years, and bring huge benefits to Seyran Khachatryan,
who has never paid a penny as a tax to our government.

Moreover, people say that he has not paid a penny for the utilities
services, electricity, water, and gas.” He referred to the Chairman
of SRC, saying: ” It is simply stunning, Gagik Khachatryan, why are
you sleeping, you did not manage to detect for 18 years. You put a
charge on, condemn a missing one for a small offense, and deprive of
income opportunity. What? Is Khachatryan’s blood redder than the other
citizens’ of Armenia? The same applies to law enforcement officials,
who today continue their criminal inaction against numerous crimes
of Surik Khachatryan, notorious Liska, and his gang.

Maybe they are not brought to the law, because Surik Khachatryan,
his brother Aghalar having the paper of a mad, their murderer, their
addicted, criminal children, and other members of the gang should
commit other crimes against me, others, perhaps, Artak Budaghyan,
perhaps other citizens for the purpose to deserve respect with all
of these, and only after then one of them will be  brought to the
criminal liability.”

In Qashatagh Region Again Castles Have Been Discovered.

IN QASHATAGH REGION AGAIN CASTLES HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED.

[ Part 2.2: “Attached Text” ]

Tuesday, 30 July 2013 19:30

The historical and cultural environment of Qashatagh region, the
exploration of which began after the liberation, has not been much
examined and revealed.

Archeologist Gagik Sargsyan, who during his exploration activities
in the region discovered six castles so far unknown to us, has been
engaged in the creation of conservation zones for the historical
monuments within the NKR territory. What castles they are and how
they were discovered we tried to find out from Mr. Sargsyan.

-How did you manage to find the castles, taking into account the
fact that neither you nor the local inhabitants know the historical
environment well enough.

– To tell the truth I know Qashatagh region well enough. Initially
I familiarized myself with the results of all the archeological
exploration activities carried out in the region before us. To some of
the monuments I was taken personally by one of the best specialists of
the history and monuments of the region, former regional administration
head of Qashatagh, candidate of historical sciences Alexan Hakobyan,
I am always accompanied by people who know the local monuments well
enough such as regional newspaper editor Zorik Yrqoyan, the current
deputy minister of Culture Lernik Hovhannisyan who has initiated the
erection of walls round the monuments, and some other specialists. But
even they knew nothing of these castles. I should say we did not rely
on the local population in this matter as about the castle on the
hill in their village and in Mirik village as well they learned from
us. The main thing is that these castles were discovered through the
photos of the “Google Earth” system taken from space. After
having thoroughly examined the pictures of the area taken from space we
could professionally distinguish the cliffs, the enclosures, the old
and new roads, the quarries, the artificial and natural promontories,
observe the relief and water system peculiarities and mark out the
peaks where theoretically castles might have been built. Castles are
not built at random. Their location is dictated by the requirements
of time and the military art.

I think our people should be well aware of their cultural heritage as
monuments are of national value and the people represented by their
national country are their owner.

Mirik castle is on the western edge of the long mountain branch
rising above the western side of Mirik village, descending from the
mountain range of Syunik and standing on the right bank of the River
Aghavno. The citadel towers above the hill while the residence itself
spreads along the southern slope up to the edge of Mirik village. The
total length of the citadel is 200 m, the width is 30 to 50 m. It
occupies the top of the hill and its eastern part and towers on the
highest leveled plain which is elliptic in form and 80*50 m in size
according to the map and on all sides is protected by a Cyclopean
wall made of unwrought basalt rocks. This part is connected to the
road leading to the citadel which lies one terrace below the southern
walls of the citadel and heading 150 meters forwards through a short
corridor edged by walls on both sides it reaches the main part. The
central part of the citadel is occupied by a round tower from 7 to 8
m in diameter, the width of the walls of which is 3 m. It forms part
of the palace in the citadel. It is a multi-room complex surrounded
with walls of jutting stones. The latter overlooks an open square.

>From the central part to the west lies an area of 30 m surrounded
with walls which ends with Á huge rectangle 15*20 m in sizes. It is
built in the same Cyclopean way, up to 3 to 4-meter height of it and
2.5-meter width of the walls have preserved so far. Next to the tower
there is a small room which leads to the central part of the citadel.

The southern slope of the hill on which the castle is situated is
surrounded by numerous artificial terraces the traces of which show
that the main residence spread in this territory. The breast walls are
erected in the same way, today 5 meters’ height of them have remained
only. The underground entrance opens in one of the artificial terraces
on the southern slopes. The tomb valley possibly spread below the
residence, its traces have been removed from the surface but can
be seen in the trenches for water supply. The pottery found in the
castle and the dilapidated tombs refer only to the middle and late
Bronze Ages. There are also specimen from the early Iron Age.
