Colère d’Alain Terzian après la publication du rapport Bonnel

Le producteur et Président de l’Académie des Césars, Alain Terzian ne
décolère pas depuis la publication du rapport Bonnel, proposant 50
propositions pour `sauver le cinéma français`.

C’est à un marathon radio-télévisé que se livre actuellement le
producteur des « Visiteurs » qui s’élève contre les 50 propositions du
rapport René Bonnel (co-fondateur de Canal+), commandé fin 2008 par la
Directrice générale du CNC, Véronique Cayla. De concert, ils ont
décidé de changer la donne de l’industrie cinématographique, notamment
en matière de financement des films par l’auto-régulation et de la
rémunération des acteurs… à l’heure du numérique. Pour René Bonnel «
2013 a été une mauvaise année pour les films français et, parmi ceux
qui ont signé de gros budgets de production et de gros cachets,
beaucoup y ont laissé des plumes ». Ce à quoi Alain Terzian rétorque
que ces propositions « signent demain la mort du cinéma français ».

Pour défendre son point de vue sur la question, le Président de
l’Union des Producteurs de films s’en est expliqué par la
démonstration au micro d’Arlette Chabot, samedi matin (Europe1),
mettant en avant la progression très significative de la part marché
du cinéma qui représentait 25% en 1993 et en 2011 40%. Sans oublier
les 7 Oscars et 4 palmes d’Or récoltés depuis 5 ans. « Le cinéma
français est un modèle que le monde nous envie, le premier cinéma
d’Europe depuis 25 ans, alternative absolue au cinéma américain »,
a-t-il dit.

L’Arménien Henrikh Mkhitaryan sur les pas de Messi selon le journal
espagnol « As »

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, l’international arménien et le joueur le plus cher
de l’histoire du Borussia Dortmund, avait été recruté dernier pour
faire oublier Mario Götze. Pour l’acquérir, le BVB (Borussia) avait
cassé sa tirelire en déboursant 27,5 millions d’euros. Mais après six
mois passés sous le maillot noir et jaune (schwarz-gelben), le milieu
de terrain et meneur de jeu laisserait selon certains observateurs un
sentiment mitigé. Alors qu’il n’a marqué « que » 3 buts en Bundesliga
et délivré 5 passes décisives, Henrikh Mkhitaryan a fait son
autocritique en affirmant « Je crois que je n’ai pas encore donné tout
ce que je peux au Borussia » dans une interview accordée à Kicker.
L’Arménien rajoute « je sais que je peux faire plus. Durant la
deuxième partie de la saison, je vais faire plus. ». Pourtant quelques
semaines seulement après l’arrivée de l’international au club,
l’entraineur Jürgen Klopp avait loué l’adaptation de Mkhitaryan à son
club. Il avait toutefois précisé qu’il restait encore beaucoup de
travail à l’Arménien. Pourtant à l’issue de la rencontre entre le BVB
et Naples en Ligue des Champions en novembre dernier, l’un des grands
bonhommes de la rencontre fut justement Henrik Mkhitaryan. Le célèbre
journal sportif espagnol « As » a alors écrit « le véritable héros de
la soirée était le petit arménien. Un joueur très difficile à
distinguer de Messi ». Cette phrase est écrite par « As » ! C’est dire
les qualités d’Henrikh Mkhitaryan qui est sur la route des grands !

Despite annual rise in exports Armenia’s trade deficit widens in
January-November 2013

Armenia’s total trade volumes, in US dollar terms and current prices,
increased 5.2% year on year (y/y) during January-November 2013, as
suggested in detailed data released by the National Statistical
Service. Exports increased 8.4%, totalling USD1.348 billion in the
same period. Meanwhile, imports grew at slower pace, rising by 4.2% to
USD3.993 billion.

Hence the trade deficit stood at USD2.645 billion, widening from
USD2.313 billion reported in January-October 2013. It also widened in
y/y comparison, against the USD2.588-billion deficit in
January-November 2012. According to the same data release, exports in
November 2013 increased 5.9% y/y, against 5% y/y decline in October.
Imports increased 13.1% y/y, accelerating from October’s y/y gain of
7.5%. The breakdown of the November data suggests that metal and
finished food products, as well as precious and semi-precious stones,
topped the list of Armenian exports. Meanwhile chemicals and related
products as well as finished food, and mineral products topped the
import list in January-November. Commonwealth of Independent States
(CIS) countries remained Armenia’s key trading partners, with
respective trade volumes comprising 32% of the total trade turnover,
followed by EU at 22%.

Significance:Armenia’s export performance has been improving
throughout 2013, although the trade gap has been narrowing, largely
due to a fall in imports. Under the new 2014 budget, the Armenian
government expects the current-account gap to stand at 8.6%. In a
continued effort to boost exports, the government is reportedly
planning to invest USD1.4 billion in a strategy for Export-Oriented
Industrial Policy. Due to above-target inflation and declining
consumer confidence among Armenian households, we expect imports to
trend down. Meanwhile, progressing economic integration with the
Russian-led Customs Union, due to be finalised by May 2014, is likely
to increase Armenian exports to the members of the union. This could
further help Armenia’s exports profile. Still, the country’s trade gap
remains relatively large and in the long term the government needs to
diversify its exports, to make them more resilient to external
challenges and to narrow the trade deficit.

Mr. VALADAO. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor the life of Mr. Ernest
Bedrosian, who passed away on January 1, 2014 at the age of 80. Ernest
was a leading raisin grower and packer in California’s San Joaquin
Valley and played an instrumental role in the development of the
raisin industry in the United States and abroad.

Ernest was born in Parlier, California and attended California State
University, Fresno, where he graduated with high honors receiving a
bachelor’s degree in Agriculture. Upon graduation in 1955, Ernest
joined the United States Army and was a food specialist stationed in
New York. In 1958 Ernest moved back to the San Joaquin Valley and
started working on his family’s raisin and wine vineyard. Shortly
after, he began serving on various raisin boards and committees.
Ernest established the Raisin Bargaining Association (RBA) in 1966 and
served as the first acting President. The efforts of the RBA organized
raisin growers, stabilized the national raisin market, and expanded
domestic and international demand for raisins.

Ernest and his brothers opened the National Raisin Company in 1969 and
developed the “Champion” brand for raisins and other dried fruits.
Today the Champion brand is the largest independent raisin, prune, and
dried fruit operation in the world and the National Raisin Company
provides hundreds of jobs to Central Valley residents.

Ernest served as an elder at his Church, the First Armenian
Presbyterian Church of Fresno, and was also a member of the church’s
various building committees. Ernest will be remembered as not only a
great businessman, but also as a devoted family man with a strong
faith and an eagerness to help his community.

Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues in the House of Representatives to
join me in paying tribute to the life and service of Mr. Ernest
Bedrosian.

Turkish FM accuses England and France of creating instability

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said England and France are
concerned over Turkey’s growing strength.

Speaking about the recent corruption scandal, Davutoglu said the
recent developments had an influence of external forces, Milliyet
reported.

The problem of Gulen schools is a cause for this, but Turkey will
overcome the obstacles, he said. Besides, the Minister believes that
over the recent 11 years Turkey has become stronger that is a matter
of concern for England, France and some other countries.

`We appeared in a situation when we do not understand whom we can
trust,’ he emphasized.

`Pre-Parliament’ civil initiative urges government to take care of
Syrian Armenians

YEREVAN. – `Pre-Parliament’ civil initiative urges the government to
provide more assistance to the Syrian Armenians.

During an action at Liberty Square, member of the initiative Vardan
Hakobyan said the Ministry of Diaspora and Foreign Ministry do not
respond to violence committed against Syrian Armenians.

`We demand more care for our compatriots,’ he said.

After a protest action the members of initiative marched along Yerevan
streets with `New parliament, new government’, `Struggle is life,
silence is death’ banners.

Armenia police department employees suspected of abuse of power

YEREVAN. – The chief and employees of Armenia police department are
suspected of abuse of power.

According to the press office of the Special Investigation Service, a
citizen of Armenia A.A. reported that back in 2011 four members of the
Artashat criminal investigation department illegally entered his house
without a warrant and conducted a search.

According to the A.A., in March 2013 he and his sister visited
Artashat office to apply for the intentional damage to property
belonging to him. Head of the police department exerted psychological
pressure on his sisters so that she refused to submit an application.

Penderecki Days to be held in Armenia

`Yerevan Perspectives’ International Music Festival will launch its
15th jubilee edition by `Penderecki Days in Armenia’ dedicated to the
80th birthday of the greatest composer of the century, to be held on
January 13-16.

Finest performers from other countries, together with the best
Armenian soloists, orchestras and choirs, will perform more than 20
pieces of the composer during 4 concerts.

The closing concert on January 16th will be conducted by Maestro
Penderecki with Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra performing the new
Double Concerto of the composer.

L’Union européenne adresse une mise en garde à la Turquie

La Commission européenne a rappelé l’importance du respect de l’État
de droit à Ankara.

Le retour de flamme entre la Turquie et l’Union européenne (UE) aura été bref.

Disant son « inquiétude » face à la purge qui a visé plus de 700
policiers depuis la mi-décembre, la Commission européenne a rappelé,
le 9 janvier, le pays à ses engagements d’aspirant à l’entrée dans
l’Union. Par l’intermédiaire de son porte-parole Olivier Bailly, elle
a demandé « instamment à la Turquie (…) de prendre toutes les
mesures nécessaires » en vue d’une enquête « transparente » sur les
accusations de corruption visant le premier ministre, Recep Tayip
Erdogan.

Une profonde crise politique La profonde crise politique à Ankara
pourrait donner un nouveau coup de frein à son adhésion, déjÃ
laborieuse, Ã l’UE. Après plus de trois ans de gel, l’ouverture d’un
nouveau « chapitre » de négociations, portant sur la politique
régionale, avait relancé les négociations en novembre dernier. « Un
tournant dans les relations entre l’UE et la Turquie », s’était
félicité Egemen Bagis, alors ministre des affaires européennes, écarté
du gouvernement lors du remaniement en décembre dernier.

Un mois plus tard, Ankara et Bruxelles signaient un accord symbolique
: d’un côté, la Turquie s’engageait à accepter les clandestins
expulsés par l’UE et partis de son territoire? ; de l’autre, l’UE
s’engageait à lever l’obligation de visa pour les ressortissants turcs
à l’horizon 2017. L’infléchissement de la position française, hostile
à l’adhésion de la Turquie à l’époque de Nicolas Sarkozy, a contribué
au réchauffement.

Candidate depuis 1999 Les Européens misaient sur cette reprise pour
redonner vie au processus d’adhésion le plus long de l’histoire de
l’UE. La Turquie est officiellement candidate depuis 1999. Mais parmi
les 14 chapitres de négociations ayant été ouverts – sur un total de
35 -, un seul a été clos, sur la science et la recherche. Le
contentieux entre Chypre et la Turquie, l’opposition de certains pays
à l’adhésion – dont l’Allemagne et la France – ainsi que le recul du «
désir d’Europe » parmi la population turque expliquent cette lenteur.

La question turque devrait s’inviter à l’ordre du jour de la réunion
des ministres des affaires étrangères de l’UE, le 20 janvier. La
visite, prévue le lendemain, de Recep Tayip Erdogan à Bruxelles
devrait les inciter à définir une position commune. « Face à ce genre
de situations, vous avez deux options, explique une source sous
couvert d’anonymat à la Commission. Soit vous ignorez le pays et vous
gelez les négociations, soit vous discutez, vous négociez, vous
rappelez les principes. La Commission est toujours pour cette approche
proactive. Mais reste à voir la position des États. »

CUBAN AND ARMENIAN FOREING MINISTERS HOLD OFFICIAL TALKS

Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandian held talks today with his Cuban
counterpart Bruno Rodríguez at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
in Havana.

Nalbandian, who is on an official visit to Cuba, expressed Armenia’s
wish to expand the relations between Cuba and Armenia.

The Armenian Foreign Minister referred to Cubans as “good friends”
and thanked the warm welcome and the invitation to visit Havana’s
historical center yesterday.

Rodríguez said Nalbandian’s visit to Cuba represents a strengthening of
the historical and current cooperation ties between both nations, and
expressed the island’s willingness to expand the areas of cooperation
with Armenia.

He also thanked Armenian citizens’ contributions to Cuba’s development.
