Baku. Victoria Dementieva – APA. Moldovan Ambassador to Azerbaijan
Igor Bodyu denied the reports spread by Moldovan mass media that his
country would continue selling weapon to Armenia.

The ambassador told APA that he communicated with his country’s
officials and the information was completely denied: “First of all,
these reports were spread by Moldova’s pro-opposition media. The
question is not about Armenia. Now Armenia is not in the list of
countries that have arms deal with Moldova”.

Despite the scandal, Moldovan leadership is going to deliver the
rest of the arms to the client from Armenia, Moldova’s Defense
Minister Vitaly Marinutsa told journalists about it, APA reports
quoting Moldnews.

At the meeting of the parliament’s commission on national security,
defense and public order, he called on the parliamentarians to cite
to the facts and legal documents, not to the media reports.

Minister said Moldova will fulfill the arms deals till the end.

“There is no legal document banning it. I hope the deal will be
fulfilled in the short run. The deal does not contain a doubtful point,
we must complete it,” he said.

Earlier, President of Moldova Marian Lupu had dismissed Chief of the
General Staff of the National Army of Moldova, General Jurie Dominic.

The relevant order was said to have been signed to prevent the
further violation of the military legislation, but according to
local newspapers, the reason of General Dominic’s dismissal was a
disclosure of secret arms deal with Armenia. The dismissal resulted in
a big scandal. Moldova’s ruling circles are afraid that this scandal
may impede Moldova-Azerbaijan cooperation and cooperation within
the framework of GUAM. The question is reportedly the artillery and
antitank systems. The freight plane loaded with the arms left Chisinau
for Yerevan on September 13. The scandal caused discord between the
Cabinet of Ministers and Defense Ministry of Moldova. The issue is
being investigated.

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov said that the countries
selling offensive weapon to Armenia make a great mistake.

BAKU: Azerbaijan’S Embassy Investigates Bako Sahakyan’s Visit To Bun

AZERBAIJAN’S EMBASSY INVESTIGATES BAKO SAHAKYAN’S VISIT TO BUNDESTAG

Azerbaijani Embassy in Germany closely investigates reports of Bako
Sahakyan’s visit to Bundestag.

A few days ago the Armenian media gave an intriguing, with undisguised
sensation, the message about the visit of the leader of the Armenian
separatists of Nagorno-Karabakh Bako Sahakyan at the German legislature
and his meeting with “a group of MPs and experts.”

The authors have assured the Armenian society that the sides allegedly
discussed at the meeting “bilateral relations” and resolution of the
Karabakh conflict.

Immediately after the appearance of this suspicious message in
the media the Azerbaijani embassy in Germany decided to verify the
validity of the facts. Preliminary results from the investigation
appear to be very interesting, and the rest of the results will be
provided to the public in the upcoming days.

The fact is that Bako Sahakyan never met with “a group of experts and
deputies”. The imposter was accompanied only by two accomplices. They
only had the opportunity to meet with one deputy and two of his
assistants. The entire format of the meeting to have a “historic”
significance where they had the chance to discuss “bilateral”
relationships is just another Armenian propaganda.

Simultaneously, the Azerbaijani Embassy immediately sent a note to
the Foreign Ministry of Germany, as well as a request to Bundestag. A
formal written response will be provided in regards to the telephone
conversation held on Thursday between the Azerbaijani Embassy and
the deputy. In the upcoming days the written report on the phone
conversation will be provided to the general public as well.

The position of the Federal Government of Germany remains changless-it
does not recognize the so-called ‘Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and has
no official contacts with the regime representatives. The statement
came from spokeswoman for the German embassy to Azerbaijan Aytakin
Maharramova.

As for the visit of the leader of Karabakh separatists Bako Saakyan
to Germany and his meetings in Bundestag, Maharramova said that the
Bundestag deputies are free in meeting people at their discretion

Baku – APA. “I want to inform the Azerbaijani public community that
after the meeting of Moldovan special commission investigating the
details of arms sale to Armenia, some mass media organizations in our
country distorted my words, attributing to me the words “Moldova will
finish the sale and begin the second phase of arms deal with Armenia”.

It is not true. In this regard I want to inform the Azerbaijani
community that the realization of abovementioned deal was stopped by me
as soon as this scandal occurred. Besides, the statutory renegotiation
procedure is being held and the final purpose of this procedure is the
complete nullification of the agreement”, Moldovan Defense Minister
Vitaly Marinutsa said, APA reports.

After the scandal of arms deal with Armenia, the Defense Minister
phoned to the editorial office of Vesti.az and asked to communicate
his respect to all Azerbaijani citizens: “I want to convey my respect
and esteem to all Azerbaijani citizens. I am sure that our friendly
relations based on mutual interests will be developed for the sake
of welfare of the two peoples”.

Moldovan Defense Minister expressed regret for the occurred incident
and confessed that some mistakes were made during making this
decision on arms sale to Armenia: “I am sure that all factors which
can damage our friendly relations with Azerbaijan in the future will
be considered”.

MUSABEKOV: THOUGH UN NON-PERMANENT MEMBER, AZERBAIJAN CANNOT INCLUDE NK ISSUE INTO AGENDA

“Some may think that Azerbaijan, a non-permanent member of the U.N.
Security Council, will be able to resolve the conflict of NK, but
it isn’t right,” “SalamNews” quotes Azerbaijani MP Rasim Musabekov
as saying.

“Look through the history. Turkey, which deals with Cypriot conflict,
has been U.N. SC non-permanent member several times. Has Turkey managed
to get use of its status and meet the challenge?” stressed Musabekov.

The Azeri MP said Pakistan had been U.N. SC non-permanent member 7
times, but failed to resolve the conflict of Kashmir.

“Don’t think that we’ll resolve all our problems due to that
membership. It won’t be easy to include the NK issue into the agenda,”
said the official.

Gaddafi son offered asylum in Niger

Gaddafi son offered asylum in Niger

November 12, 2011 – 12:16 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – Niger’s President Mahamadou Issoufou said on Friday,
Nov 11 he had granted Muammar Gaddafi’s son Saadi asylum on
humanitarian grounds but did not know the location of another fugitive
son Saif al-Islam, South African media reported.

The announcement will strain already troubled relations between Niger
and Libya’s interim rulers, who overthrew Muammar Gaddafi after an
eight month uprising and want both sons to stand trial for alleged
atrocities.

Saadi, a businessman and former professional footballer, is in Niger
after escaping across the border from Libya when National Transitional
Council (NTC) forces captured the capital Tripoli in August.

“We have agreed on granting asylum to Saadi Gaddafi for humanitarian
reasons,” the South African Press Association (SAPA) quoted Issoufou
telling a news conference at the end of a two-day visit to South
Africa.

Interpol has issued a “red notice” requesting member states to arrest
Saadi with a view to extradition if they find him on their territory.

Libya’s interim justice minister on Friday questioned Niger’s grounds
in granting asylum on humanitarian grounds, saying it was usually
given to people facing persecution in their own country.

“But al-Saadi has practiced persecution and incitement to murder. He
is accused of killing Tripoli football player and national team member
Bashir Al Rayan … There is strong circumstantial evidence that he
was involved in that,” Mohammed al-Alagi told Dubai-based Al Arabiya
television.

Issoufou said he did not know the location of Saif al-Islam who is
wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on charges of crimes
against humanity.

“Saif al-Islam is not in Niger. I would have to consider what to do if
he comes. We will deal with issues in terms of law and democracy and
international agreements,” Issoufou said.

Niger is a member of the Hague-based global court and officially would
have to hand over Saif al-Islam if he arrived on its territory.

The ICC says it has been in indirect contact with Saif al-Islam to
discuss him giving himself up. He is believed to be deep in the Libyan
desert, Reuters reported.
