A few days ago Armenia’s representative Narek Kazazyan took the third
place in the Eurovision Young Musicians 2012 competition held in
Vienna. Another Armenian, violinist Emmanuel Chgnavoryan representing
Austria came second.

Fifteen-year-old Narek from Vanadzor managed to admire the European
audience with his kanon and Khachatur Avetisyan’s work. Head of
the Armenian delegation to “Euroviison” Gohar Gasparyan says the
Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra faced difficulties accompanying the
Armenian kanon.

Narek Kazazyan received a prize of ~@1,200, which will allow him to
take a master class in Vienna. Today he expressed gratitude to his
teacher Tsovinar Hovhannisyan and accompanist Anahit Dilbaryan. “I
would not be able to perform well without their help,” Narek said.

We have talented young musicians and we have to provide them with
an opportunity to express themselves, Deputy Minister of Culture
Arthur Poghosyan said. For that purpose the Armenian Government has
proclaimed the aesthetic education of children and youth as a priority
in 2012-2015.

Karabakh And Eurasian Union

KARABAKH AND EURASIAN UNION
Naira Hayrumyan

Story from Lragir.am News:

Published: 16:12:46 – 15/05/2012

Today, Vladimir Putin’s mediation in the Karabakh negotiations may be
tested. The informal summit of the CIS countries with the participation
of the Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents, Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham
Aliyev will be held today evening.

They will most likely congratulate Vladimir Putin and will expect
new Karabakh initiatives.

Analysts affirm Putin’s mediation, unlike Medvedev, may come out
rougher and even compulsory. Medvedev’s mediation of three years,
who initiated the trilateral format of negotiations, brought the
Karabakh issue settlement to the line when the point is no longer
about the preservation of the current situation, but settlement. The
adopted documents deal with the “acceleration” of the agreement of
the basic principles, activation of humanitarian ties and creation
of mechanisms to investigate border incidents.

What will Putin propose as a mediator? He will hardly take up step
breaking the status quo, more likely, he will use the situation to
solve his own problems.

Putin’s main task, which he mentioned as priority of the foreign
policy, will be the integration on the post-Soviet territory and
creation of Eurasian Union. Vladimir Putin will use all the methods
to attract the former soviet countries into this union. But few hopes
can be connected with Azerbaijan in this issue, while Armenia is one
of the first candidatures to the Eurasian Union.

Of course, Putin will use all the mediatory possibilities to scare
Yerevan of the change of status quo and seize the agreement of Armenia
to join the Eurasian Union. In order to convince, Putin may even show
how fragile the status quo is.

Putin has no other reasons to settle the Karabakh issue or to activate
negotiations. And if the Armenian leadership manages to tell the
Russian president openly its position on the Eurasian union, perhaps,
it will be possible to avoid speculations on the Karabakh settlement.

Otherwise, some more young men standing on the border will not return
home, but they won’t know they were killed by someone’s irrepressible
wish to create the Eurasian Union.

V. GRIGORYAN: LET THEM BLOW OUT PARAJANOV’S MUSEUM-HOUSE AS WELL

May 15 Politics

Poet Violet Grigoryan spoke about the explosion in DIY club criticizing
the accident and mentioned that no one can present the public opinion.

“Armenian nation was to be the leader in human rights equality as it
was complied to acts of Genocide just because it differed from the
others. Thus those people are to be more tolerant. Then let them blow
out Parajanov’s museum house as well. There are such appeals as well
and Parajanov himself was a homosexual,” she said.

Violet believes this is an anti-governmental action and should be
officially punished because there is intolerant approach in our
country toward all those who is “different”.

“Many Armenians from Diaspora come here and go back because they feel
themselves different, the Armenian – Persian men are being mocked as
they seem to be a bit tenderer because of different culture. Even on
the intergovernmental level the treatment toward Gyumri and Karabakh
inhabitants is different; I would like to join my voice to those who
condemns this action,” she said.
