American -Armenian protested against Ramil Safarov’s extradition in Boston

11:35 | 2012-09-19 | Press Review | Diaspora |

Around 100 protesters gathered at the Boston Common on Sept. 17 to
protest the extradition of Ramil Safarov, the Azerbaijani axe
murderer, from Hungary, and his subsequent pardon by Azerbaijani
president Ilham Aliyev, The Armenian Weekly reports.

Protesters standing opposite the Massachusetts State House waived the
Armenian flag and held signs criticizing both Azerbaijan and Hungary.
One protester’s sign read, `Axe murderer on the loose… Thank Hungary
for your safety concern.’ Another held a poster with the words, `We
are all Gurgen!’ One woman held a small sign, `Humanity over
politics.’
`Baku honors murderers!’ and `Hungary has blood on its hands!’ chanted
the protesters.

`We are here today as Armenian-Americans to show the world our nation
is united under our tri-color flag… We ask Hungary to stand by our
side in this crucial time and recognize Artsakh [Karabagh] as a
sovereign nation, and wipe its hands clean of the smeared blood,’ said
Antranig Avedissian, the president of the AYF-YOARF Greater Boston
`Nejdeh’ chapter, through a megaphone.
`We stand united with Armenians from all over the world, for Gurgen
Margaryan,’ he continued. `Today, I am Gurgen Margaryan; and today we
are all Gurgen Margaryan.’

Protesters held a candlelight vigil and a moment of silence for
Margaryan, the Armenian lieutenant who was axed to death during his
sleep by Safarov. The protest ended with a prayer, the `Hayr Mer’ (Our
Father).

Russia’s chief communist says U.S. envoy in Libya died as `dog’

Russia’s chief communist says U.S. envoy in Libya died as `dog’

September 19, 2012 – 12:36 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – Russian Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov has
angered the U.S. administration by derogatory comments on the recent
killing of U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens, RIA Novosti
reported citing the Kommersant daily.

`The American ambassador to Libya was shot like a dog. He was the main
expert on the Libyan `revolution.’ He reaped what he sowed,’ Zyuganov,
leader of the second largest political party in Russia, tweeted on
Monday, Sept 17.

U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens was killed along with
three colleagues when rioters attacked the U.S. consulate in the
Libyan city of Benghazi on September 11, after protests about the film
The Innocence of Muslims.

Citing an unnamed U.S. State Department source, the daily said
Zyuganov’s statement would not go unnoticed but reaction will most
likely follow November’s presidential election.

That response will come whether the presidential election is won by
incumbent President Barack Obama or his Republican rival Mitt Romney,
the source added.

Zyuganov’s press service named the employee responsible for managing
the Communist Party leader’s Twitter account as Denis Parfyonov,
Kommersant noted.

Parfyonov told the daily his responsibility only covers technical
aspects of the Twitter account, and all tweets are dictated personally
by Zyuganov.

`We type in what Gennady says word-for-word and do not make anything
up,’ Parfyonov said.

Zyuganov would face the most severe sanctions if the U.S. presidential
race is won by Romney, who is known as a vocal critic of Russia and
who recently named the country `the number one geopolitical foe’ of
the United States, Kommersant said.
