GEORGIAN MP: AKHALKALAKI ARMENIANS’ LANGUAGE DEMAND REPORT UNTRUE

March 19, 2013 – 21:38 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – Georgian parliamentarian Zviad Kvachantiradze slammed
the report suggesting that Akhalkalaki’s Armenian population demanded
to make Armenian a state language.

“No application regarding the issue above was ever sent to the
parliament,” the First Vice Chairman of the Committee on Foreign
Relations of the Parliament of Georgia said.

“We’ll give people a chance to develop their own language, yet it
doesn’t mean that the Georgian language won’t be used for record
management at court.”

“Georgian authorities are open for discussions, and won’t be able to
avoid the responsibility. In 1999, President Saakashvili was the one
who signed the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages
without consulting anyone,” Caucasus Online quoted Kvachantiradze
as saying.

Heritage Party To Publish Nomination List In Yerevan Municipal Elect

HERITAGE PARTY TO PUBLISH NOMINATION LIST IN YEREVAN MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS

TERT.AM
15:35 ~U 20.03.13

The Heritage party plans to publish its nomination list in the
forthcoming elections to the Yerevan Council of Elders, Heritage
party Spokesman Hovsep Khurshudyan told a press conference in Yerevan
Freedom Square.

Armenia is unable to meet the challenges facing it with such
statesmen as Chairman of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia
(RPA) and Armenia~Rs incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, as well as
high-ranking officials representing the ruling party.

With respect to the ruling party members~R talks that ~SRaffi
Hovannisian is a closed issue,~T Mr Khurshudyan said that ~Stheir
issue is not closed for the people, and the people will resolve it.~T

Many of the Armenian president~Rs statements on his meeting with
Raffi Hovannisian are false.

Serzh Sargsyan~Rs resignation or a similar ~Ssolution on a national
scale~T would be acceptable.

~SThis solution on a national scale cannot be a proposal for
constitutional amendments in two years, but can only be part thereof,~T
Mr Khurshudyan said.

He is sure that the Heritage party will win the municipal elections
in Yerevan. Struggle in the elections to the Yerevan Council of Elders
is an important part of the party~Rs political struggle.

Mr Khurshudyan also welcomes other political parties~R intention to
run for the Yerevan Council of Elders though they did not participate
in the presidential election.

~SThey did not believe anything could be changed through the
presidential election, but they do believe something can be changed
through elections to the Yerevan Council of Elders, which is
commendable,~T he said.

Mr Khurshudyan does not rule out cooperation with the political forces
in question.
