The Turkish-Israeli tension will not have serious consequences,
President of the Constitutional Right Union Hayk Babukhanyan told a
press conference today. According to him, Turkey has found itself in
this situation by chance, and Iran will not allow Turkey to lead the
Islamic unification.

Babukhanyan considers that Turkey has not changed and naive are all
those who think that the country has changed.

“How can Turkey demand an apology from another country, when Turkey
itself has been refusing to apologize for its evils in the course of
95 years? How can Turkey call another country an aggressor, when it
has conquered part of Cyrus? Turkey is guided by double standards, and
Europe and UN accept the rules of this game,” Hayk Babukhanyan says.

The leader of the Constitutional Right Union considers that by refusing
to ratify the Armenian-Turkish protocols, Turkey has already earned
the reputation of an unreliable partner.

The “Raging Bull” Vic Darchinyan – WBC/WBA and IBO – super flyweight
champion is back to Armenia after his victory over Filipino Eric
Barcelona in Australia. Darchinyan hosted the media representatives
today and told Fernando Montiel is going to be his next rival in
August.

“First, I’d like to state that having an injury on my hand we were
to postpone the match for 2-3 weeks. I’m going to have a bout with
Montiel in the same weight I won Barcelona. He has WBO and WBC belts.

But still IBO belt is of greater significance and value. That
federation offered me bout for super champion’s title. All the
federations came to an agreement to have that match. And most probably,
the match with Montiel will have that kind of significance.

So my next rival has had a match in Japan a week ago and he won in
the third round with knockout.

By the way, it’s 6-7 years he is the master of that title. I’ve thrown
down the gauntlet. His representatives say Fernando should have another
bout and we’re supposed to sign deal after that,” Armenian boxer said.

To the question why Vic Darchinyan doesn’t have his trainings in
Armenia, the boxer said: “I’ve been asked that question many times.

I’ve friends here whose care will make me fight in super heavyweight
class. I’ve good training conditions in Australia and I don’t have
problems with sparing rivals,” champion said.

Armenian WBC/WBA and IBO super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan
hosted news conference today in Armenia. Panorama.am reporter asked
the champion to speak about “Super Six World Boxing Classic” bout
between Arthur Abraham and Andre Dirrel.

It’s worth recalling that Abraham was disqualified for beating his
rival when the latter was on his knees.

“Of course, we shouldn’t beat the rival that way. But let’s not
forget that Dirrel is a perfect actor. There wasn’t a slap to make a
knockout. Arthur was impatient hence we could say the disqualification
was logically. And Andre Dirrel, I think, should be awarded best
Hollywood cup,” Vic said.

Darchinyan is one of best five boxers of “Showtime” and the TV Company
is intended to have a bout here and to broadcast it as well.

“They want all the equipments to transfer here in Armenia and to
broadcast the bout. Of course, we speak of enormous amount of money
but it’s good they are ready to,” Vic Darchinyan said.

The world champion didn’t exclude Armenia may host a super flyweight
championship.

Vic Darchinyan comes home to share his success with his countrymen

As he often does after big fights, boxing champion Vic Darchinyan
came home to Armenia where he met media today (June 4) after his May
victory over Filipino Eric Barcelona in Australia.

The “Raging Bull” Darchinyan – WBC/WBA – super flyweight champion
was greeted with champagne in his home country from which he took
his skills to Australia and on to a 35 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw career
so far.

The latest victory on his remarkable ring resume came although the
champ fought with a broken left hand in the 12-round fight (Darchinyan
is left-handed).

Darchinyan used his visit to Armenia to announce an early September
match against Mexican Fernando Montiel for the WBC super champion
title.

Darchinyan told friendly media that he usually enters a ring as a
‘hungry wolf’, because before that he eats too little to lose weight.

(Super flyweight’s maximum allowance is 115 pounds – 52.2 kilos.)

“My aim is to enter a ring and to drop my opponent,” Darchinyan says.

Darchinyan says that the reason he doesn’t train for his upcoming
fight in Armenia is because he is distracted by having his friends
and relatives here.

Darchinyan also told media that he will no longer pursue a rematch
with Filipino Nonito Donaire, who dealt Darchinyan his only knockout
(flyweight division), in 2007.

“I’ve pursued Donaire for three years, but he delays signing a contract
all the time,” Darchinyan says.

The 34-year-old prizefighter says he’ll compete for two or three more
year, then become a boxing promoter.

Multi-Children Families Need State Attention

MULTI-CHILDREN FAMILIES NEED STATE ATTENTION

A1Plus.am
04/06/10

Over 150 multi-children families have united to protect their rights
among them the parents of five underage children Armen Markosyan and
Nune Gevorgyan.

“A large family is usually associated with hunger, illiteracy and
rags. These families surely need help but there are many who do not
fall into the category and get benefits. This is humiliating for us.

We deserve respect and decent life,” says engineer Armen Markosyan.

The initiative group has addressed numerous letters to relevant bodies
who forwarded them to lower instances without reading the contents.

“Recently, we received an answer from the Ministry of Labor and
Social Affairs which said there is no law on multi-children families
in Armenia, hence they cannot deal with the issue,” said Mr. Markosyan.

In fact, many-children families get no financial assistance. The
state gives 400 000 drams to newly formed families after the birth
of a third child. Though we enjoy certain privileges, the family
stops being multi-children as soon as one of the children grows up,”
says Nune Gevorgyan.

During a meeting with Hakob Hakobyan, Chairman of the NA Standing
Committee on Social Affairs, the parents were told that the draft
law is already ready and will be discussed in the National Assembly
in late September.

SDHK: "Vacate Liberty Square"

SDHK: “VACATE LIBERTY SQUARE”

A1Plus.am
04/06/10

Social Democrat Hunchakian Party (SDHK) has issued a statement accusing
Armenian authorities of permissiveness and denouncing police actions.

The terror applied by the authorities against the Armenian people
for the last 2.5 years is displayed by new methods.

“The ruling oligarchic clan, discontent with March 1 bloody events,
political terror and illegal arrests of opposition figures, longs
for new bloodshed.

The authorities, lacking political wisdom and unable to deal with
foreign challenges, having the foreboding of their imminent collapse,
are forcing the police to more cruel actions, and deepening the gap
between the society and law enforcement bodies instead of starting
a dialogue with the opposition and alleviating the domestic tension.

The illegal actions of the police accompanied by brute violence,
beatings and ungrounded mass arrests, further disgrace the country’s
infamous police system making it fully dependent on authorities’ whims.

Banning oppositionists’ entry to the newly re-opened Liberty Square,
preventing opposition protests and unlawfully arresting opposition
representatives and journalists the police show that they fulfill
the authorities’ whimsical desire.

The SDHP demands that the authorities 1. immediately release all
political prisoners, 2. stop the terror and permissiveness of the
police, 3. liberate the Square from the unnecessary presence of the
“law enforcement bodies.”

Aronyan appears to have been saved the trouble of going to Baku

International chess’s governing body has confirmed that next year’s
World Champion candidates’ matches will be held in two countries,
saving Armenia’s top player the trouble of playing in Azerbaijan.

As the winner of the FIDE Grand Prix 2008-2009 Levon Aronyan is one
of eight chess grandmasters to play in a Candidates Tournament to
decide the next World Championship challenger.

The Armenian chess ace indicated in April that he won’t take part in
World Chess Championship qualifying matches if Azerbaijan’s capital
Baku was picked as the [only] venue. And the Armenian Chess Federation
had sent an official letter to FIDE over the matter.

Armenia and Azerbaijan warred in the early 1990s over Nagorno-Karabakh
and remain at loggerheads over the disputed territory today. On rare
occasions Armenian and Azeri athletes exchanged visits, but, by and
large, the two countries view each other as hostile environments,
including for sporting events.

According to an armchess.am report, FIDE has said this week the
candidates’ matches will be held in two countries. In particular,
four of the eight qualifiers are planned in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku,
and the other four, including Aronyan’s fixtures, in another country
that will be adjusted additionally.

Six out of Aronyan’s seven rivals are already known. They are:
Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria), Vladimir Kramnik (Russia), Magnus Carlsen
(Norway), Gata Kamsky (USA), Bors Gelfand (Israel) and Teimour Radjabov
(Azerbaijan).

According to a preliminary decision, the matches will be held under
the knockout system, commencing March 1, 2011.

The winner of the eight-man tournament will challenge the reigning
FIDE chess champion Viswanathan Anand (India) in 2012.
