International Tenders for Improvement of Quality of Garbage Removal in
Yerevan

YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS: International tenders are being held for
the improvement of quality of garbage removal in Yerevan. The
`Fichner’ German company conducted a study in Yerevan and presented a
report to the municipality. Afterwards an international tender was
held and the British `International Ltd’ company was selected for
preparing a package on organizing garbage removal.

Gagik Khachatryan, head of Yerevan Municipality’s public utilities
department, told Armenpress that the package is expected to play a
guiding role. After the expiry of the time-limit of the preparation
another tender will be held. The company, selected as a result of the
tender, will carry out the garbage removal works in Yerevan.

The package, prepared by the British `International Ltd’ company, is
expected to be handed to Yerevan Municipality 2012.

The construction of the Tatev cable way in the final phase

YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS: The longest cable way in the world will
be put into exploitation in Tatev October 26. The construction works
are in the final phase. Artashes Kazakhetsyan, the head of the `Tatev
Cable Way and Infrastructures’ program, part of a bigger `Tatev
Rebirth’ program, said today that the general construction works are
finished and the devices are installed, it has just remained to solve
certain technical issues. Before the first half of September the main
work will be finished and the testing will launch.

The cable way is 5.7 km-long and its height is 330m. In one direction
the route of the cable way lasts 11 minutes 25 seconds.

The final price for tickets has not been decided yet but it will be
different for tourists and local residents. In future it is expected
to build hotels, tourism centers which will be accommodated to the
territory and will contribute to the development of ecologically clean
tourism.

Before the ceremonial opening of the cable way special European
commission will visit Tatev to asses the security of the structure.

Roundtable Discussion on `State-Diaspora: Prospects of Development of
Cooperation’

YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS: One-day roundtable discussion on
`State-Diaspora: Prospects of Development of Cooperation’ was
organized today on the initiative of RA Diaspora Ministry.

RA Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan mentioned that the Armenian
Diaspora is a unique organism, which involves 30 thousand
organizations and over 7 million people, living in 100 states. The
Minister says the Armenian Diaspora involves the family, church,
parties, schools, cultural centers and the press. As to the relations
between the Diaspora and the State, Hranush Hakobyan said they have
been developed in various forms.

A number of guests from Greece, Israel, Russia, and other states took
part in the discussion. David Breakstone, representative of Israel,
made a report on the activities of World Zionistic Organization and
underscored the main directions of works, implemented by the
organization. The investment of the Jewish Diaspora in the sphere of
State-Diaspora cooperation and establishment of the Israeli State was
emphasized as well.

280 nature disasters registered in the republic H1/2010k

280 nature disasters registered in the republic in the first half of the year

YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS: In the first half of the running year
280 nature disasters have been registered in the republic. In the
first half of 2009 220, and in the same period of 2008 179 nature
disasters were registered.

Armenian Rescue Service of the Armenian Emergency Situations Ministry
told Armenpress that in the first half of this year cases of 42 strong
winds and storms, 29 floods, 28 strong hails and other cases of nature
disasters have been registered, as a result of which 2 people have
been killed and one – injured.

In the first half of 2010 180 earthquakes have been registered, there
are no suffered people. In the same period of 2009 and 2008 91 and 65
earthquakes were registered respectively.

`Wings of Eagle’ – the winner in the contest of renaming the Tatev cable way

YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS: The contest of compositions announced
for renaming the cable way of Halidzor village of the Armenian
province of Syunik has been summed up. The winner is resident of the
Halidzor village Amalya Grigoryan who offered to name the cable way
`Wings of Eagle’ – explaining that from her childhood she has been
dreaming of such cable way, and all were mocking her dream.

`There were wonderful variants and very good compositions. We have
thought a lot over them,’ head of the Tatev cable way opening program
Lilit Chitchyan said.

Two weeks ago a competition contest was announced in the village of
Tatev having 550-population. The participants must have presented
their opinion, concerns and wishes over the cable way and offer a
name. A number of names – Halidzor, Bardzraket, Prkoghak (Rescue
Circle), Syunik, Vorotan and other were offered.

Head of Halidzor village Samvel Asryan thanked the National
Competitiveness Foundation and those who have financed the program. `I
express my gratitude on behalf of the whole village. Halidzor has
waited quite long for such an establishment which will not only
promote the development of tourism but will solve the issues of jobs,’
the head of the village noted.

YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS: A technical space class of Russian
language teaching was conducted July 29 in the road educational center
of `South Caucasus Railway’ CJSC. An official from the press service
of the company told Armenpress that the participants of the lecture
were the Gyumri railway employees. Chief Engineer Sergey Harutyunyan
as well as head of the educational center Sedrak Miletbashyan partook
in the event from the company.

Deputy Head of `Rossotrudnichestvo’ mission in Armenia Natalya
Yeremenko referred to the role of the Russian language in teaching of
technical subjects, taking into consideration that all the documents
and railway terminology are traditionally written in Russian.

After the opening speech the class of special subjects was held,
conducted by the specialists of `Rossotrudnichestvo’ and of the
company. At the end of the lecture Gyumri railway employees had an
opportunity to address the questions they are interested in an on-line
regime.

Implementation of suchlike space education has become possible within
the frameworks of the agreement reached between `South Caucasus
Railway’ CJSC and `Rossotrudnichestvo’ and is directed toward teaching
the Russian language to the employees of the railway.

American-Armenians Sue Turkey

LOS ANGELES, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS: American-Armenian attorneys sued the
Turkish Government and two Turkish banks, demanding that the
descendants of the victims of the 1915 Armenian Genocide be
compensated, Milliyet cites American AP Agency reports.

According to the source, the above-mentioned two banks are the Central
Bank of Turkey and the Ziraat Bank (Agricultural bank), which has been
operating since the 1860’s.

The claimants are Karbis Davuyan from Los Angeles and Hrayr Turabyan
from New York. In their application they state that a slew of human
rights and international norms were violated. They demand compensation
for the loss of real estate, territories, bank accounts, priceless
cultural and church materials.

Mark Giragos, attorney, says this is the first such sue, which calls
the Turksish Government to account. `All the attorneys, involved in
the case, had relatives, who became victims of the Genocide or were
forced to move from their homeland. It sharpens the matter,’ he said.

Brian Kabatke, attorney, says the process may last 3 years. He added
that they will do their best to advance in the case.

Works of Public Council implemented in the last 2 months summed up

YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS: At today’s session of the Public
Council, in which the chairmen of the 12 commissions partook, the
works implemented during the last 2 months were presented and the
further tasks were specified. Chairman of the Public Council Vazgen
Manukyan attached importance to the decision of the Armenian
government, according to which hereafter the council can partake in
the sessions of the government and present issues.

Referring to the works implemented in the last 2 months V. Manukyan
noted that they have submitted proposals on 2010-2020 stable
development strategy of agriculture, on establishment of centers for
production-technical service of agriculture, organization of wholesale
markets.

The public council has conducted active discussions on foreign
language schools and has presented its position.

The Public Council has received a dozen of applications on
encroachment of the property of the Armenian citizens. According to V.
Manukyan, an agreement has been reached with President’s Oversight
Service to jointly discuss them, trying not only to give solutions to
every private affair, but also to try to reveal the flaws in the
current legislation and to assess the works of different departments
which have connection with the above mentioned affairs.

The Public Council has received applications from the people sentenced
to life imprisonment in `Nubarashen’ criminal-executive establishments
of the Justice Ministry, who ask for a meeting with the Chairman and
representatives of the Public Council. V. Manukyan said that a working
team, comprised of 4 members has been designed, which will visit the
prisoners.

V. Manukyan noted that the council has discussed the application
received from aviation regulators, which was on changes of working
conditions and salary payment systems. The council has adopted a
decision to design a working team, which, taking into consideration
the international practice and local peculiarities, will thoroughly
discuss the issues raised by the latter and will present the proposals
at the plenary session of the council to be held in September.

RA Ambassador S. Manasaryan awarded with highest medal of Bulgaria

YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS: On July 27 decree of President of
Bulgaria Georgi Prvanov Armenian Ambassador to Bulgaria Sergey
Manasaryan was awarded with `Stara Planina’ – highest medal of
Bulgaria. Press service of the Armenian Foreign Affairs Ministry told
Armenpress that the medal handing ceremony was held today – July 30,
in the parliamentary residence of Bulgaria.

Honorary consuls of Armenia in Plovdiv and Varna Yeghiazar Uzunyan and
Sargis Sargsyan, President of the Council of the Bulgarian Diocese of
the Armenian Apostolic Church Ruben Grigoryan, representatives of the
Community Council of Sofia, of Bulgarian-Armenian national bodies, of

Issues of cross-border communities in the center of attention of the government

YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS: Armenian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister
of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan visited today the
province of Tavush. Accompanied with Governor Armen Ghulyan the Deputy
Prime Minister first got acquainted with reconstruction process of the
part of M4 inter-state road ruined because of activation of
landslides, as well as with construction process of the 6, 3 km
roundabout road. The main part of the construction works is
accomplished and the Deputy Prime Minster was informed that they will
be brought to an end till September.

The roundabout road is being constructed by a new technology, and in
case of possible emergency situations it will ensure the uninterrupted
communication of Yerevan-Ijevan-Georgia border inter-state road. An
official from the Public Relations Department of the ministry told
Armenpress that in Koti community the construction process of the
irrigation water pipeline was presented to the Deputy Prime Minister,
which is being implemented within the frameworks of the programs of
the International Fund for Agricultural Development. It is intended to
hand to exploitation in September.

Within the frameworks of the working visit the Deputy Prime Minister
was also in the neighboring Barekamavan. The solution variants of the
primary issues were discussed in the community office. Deputy Director
of `Hayastan’ all-Armenian fund Ararat Khlghatyan said that the fund
already discusses the issues on construction of a new community
office, inner system of drinking water and irrigation system. It was
mentioned that the rural school, too, needs repair.

A. Gevorgyan offered the Deputy Director of the fund to sum up the
process connected with implementation of the programs and to specify
the financing sources of concrete projects till the first half of
September. The Deputy Prime Minister promised to refer to a number of
other issues as soon as he returns Yerevan. He also listened to the
concerns of the community’s population, which were mainly connected
with the employment issue. The Deputy Prime Minister assured that the
issues of the cross-border communities are in the center of attention
the goevrnemnt.
