Dashnaktsutyun: Recognition Of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic By Armenia

DASHNAKTSUTYUN: RECOGNITION OF NAGORNO-KARABAKH REPUBLIC BY ARMENIA WOULD SPUR INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION

YEREVAN

Recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic~Rs independence by Armenia
would simplify the process of international recognition, Kiro Manoyan,
head of the headquarters of Armenian Revolutionary Federation
Dashnaktsutiun~Rs Hay Dat office, said Wednesday at a news conference.

But he thinks that time has not come yet for the recognition of
Karabakh by Armenia.

~SThis would be considered as an obstacle in the conflict settlement
process,~T he said. ~SHowever, we can work with some countries having
no common interests with Azerbaijan or Turkey. Even if one country
recognizes the republic, things will begin to move.~T

Manoyan thinks that Armenia, taking into account the recent UN
International Court~Rs decision, should intensify its efforts on
Karabakh.

~SThis decision gives us grounds for remind the world that
Nagorno-Karabakh Republic has declared its independence in accordance
with all the norms of the international law and the then Soviet
Union~Rs laws,~T he said.

Karabakh conflict broke out in 1988 when Karabakh, mainly populated
by Armenians, declared its independence from Azerbaijan.

On December 10, 1991, a few days after the collapse of the Soviet
Union, a referendum took place in Nagorno-Karabakh, and the majority
of the population (99.89%) voted for secession from Azerbaijan.

Afterwards, large-scale military operations began. As a result,
Azerbaijan lost control over Nagorno-Karabakh and the seven regions
adjacent to it.

Some 30,000 people were killed in this war and about one million
people fled their homes. On May 12, 1994, the Bishkek cease-fire
agreement put an end to the military operations.

Since 1992, talks brokered by OSCE Minsk Group are being held over
peaceful settlement of the conflict. The group is co-chaired by USA,
Russia and France.

Slump In Egg Prices Sends Zangap LLC Bankrupt: Who Is Next?

SLUMP IN EGG PRICES SENDS ZANGAP LLC BANKRUPT: WHO IS NEXT?

Tert.am
28.07.10

Zangap LLC which has a poultry factory in Geghanist, Kotayk marz,
has gone bankrupt due to a recent dramatic decline in egg prices in
the Armenian market.

Gagik Mnatsakanyan, the owner and Director of the Company, is convinced
that the drop in prices is caused by damping by other players in
the market.

“I think that what has happened in the market is that some people
wanted to take the driver’s seat in the monopoly of the market,
so that to simply push us off the market. Today an egg is sold for
10 AMD, while the cost price of an egg here is 30-32 AMD. For how
long could I sell the eggs cheaper than the cost price? I was losing
100-120 thousand AMD per day,” said he, adding that he had to behead
about 10,000 hens.

“We had bought one hen for 2300 AMD but had to behead them and sell
for … 250 AMD each,” said he.

Further Mr Mnatsakanyan said that he had gone bankrupt and that the
case is already in the court, adding his losses made up a total of
$100,000 USD due to the drop.

Georgia Wants To Simplify Customs Controls On Borders With Armenia A

GEORGIA WANTS TO SIMPLIFY CUSTOMS CONTROLS ON BORDERS WITH ARMENIA AND AZERBAIJAN

Tert.am
28.07.10

Georgia must try to simplify the movement through the border not
only with Turkey, but also with other countries in the region –
Armenia and Azerbaijan, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said
at a meeting with the employees of the Finance Ministry.

“We are facing a difficult negotiation, but I already have an
agreement with the Armenian side. We must work with the Azerbaijani
side to implement the integration of our systems to ensure that
our citizens do not suffer and their movement and the movement of
cargo is facilitated, which will strengthen economic development,”
APA quoted Saakashvili as saying.

He noted the successes that have been achieved during border movements
with Turkey. “On the one hand, we achieved what we do not need any line
or barriers with Turkey. We must do like in Europe and other civilized
countries. There must be a single checkpoint on the principle of
“one window” and the cars have to travel without barriers,” said he.
