ARMENIAN GOVERNMENT APPROVES CLEAN MOTHERLAND PROGRAM

At RA governmental sitting, headed by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan,
Clean Motherland national program was approved.

The program aims at improving legislative field in order to more
effectively employ the means for environmental cleansing and
protection, increasing awareness of environmental issues.

RA ministries and institutions were instructed to submit offers
on their participation in program events, as well as attraction of
financial means.

“The issue of clean environment is gaining urgency in Armenia,”
Tigran Sargsyan emphasized, urging educational institutions, local
authorities and public organizations to contribute to the program.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan
took a stroll through the capital of Armenia, Yerevan, with their
wives after a state dinner in honor of the Russian president’s visit.

The presidents visited the capital’s Republic Square and enjoyed a show
at the Singing Fountains. Medvedev tossed a coin into the fountain
after the show and both presidents chatted with other visitors near
the fountain.

Both presidents and first ladies then continued on to enjoy their
evening at a jazz cafe.

Immediately after his arrival, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev
visited Armenian Genocide Victims Memorial, accompanied by RF Defense
Minister Alexander Serdyukov, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Transport
Minister Igor Levitin and plenipotentiary Ilya Klebanov.

Armenian side was represented by RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian,
Armenian Genocide Museum Institute Director Hayk Demoyan and Vice
Mayor of Yerevan Kamo Areyan.

Dmitry Medvedev laid a wreath to the eternal flame and watered the tree
planted at his previous visit. Upon visit completion, the delegation
proceeded to RA presidential residence.

Labor Fair In Tavush Province

IJEVAN, AUGUST 18, ARMENPRESS: A labor fair was conducted today in
the province center of Tavush – Ijevan, funded by the state budget
and on the initiative of the “State Employment Service” agency of
the Armenian Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

It had a goal to arrange a meeting of job seekers with employers, to
make acquainted with the programs implemented for unemployed people,
as well as to give the employers an opportunity to find specialists
with corresponding skills. Forty employers representing financial
and productive structures, educational establishments, communities,
construction and non-governmental organizations partook in the fair
in Ijevan.

Tavush Governor Armen Ghularyan and head of the “State Employment
Service” agency Sona Harutyunyan were present at the fair. They also
got acquainted with the vacancies offered by employers. During the
labor fair, which lasted nearly 4 hours, many job seekers submitted
their resumes to employers, in order the latter make choice in certain
period of time.

YEREVAN, AUGUST 17, ARMENPRESS: State-funded labor fair, organized
upon the initiative of the state labor service of RA labor and social
affairs ministry, will be held August 18 in Ijevan, province of
Tavush. An official from RA state labor service told Armenpress that
the fair is aimed at suggesting job seekers to meet with employers,
get acquainted with labor projects for the unemployed, as well giving
employers an opportunity to find specialists with corresponding skills.

The labor fair has a great significance for the economic development
of the province. Being a fine means of advertisement it may cause
interest among investors and increase the possibility of investments
in that area.

It is also a means of making the employer-employee collaboration more
active. If a job seeker does not find corresponding job during the
fair, he can just establish ties with various employers, be informed
about forthcoming vacancies, get acquainted with requirements of
employers and reconsider their qualifications. 6 labor fairs were held
2009 in various cities of the Republic – Vanadzor, Artashat, Gyumri,
Dilijan, Kapan, Hrazdan. 220 employers and 10 750 job seekers partook
in them. The number of vacancies was 1360. Over 400 job seekers got job
in the result of the fairs. This is the third labor fair, intended for
2010. 40 employers and 1500 job seekers are expected to partake in it.

‘HILL OF HONOR’ MEMORIAL COMPLEX TO OPEN AUGUST 20

YEREVAN, AUGUST 18, ARMENPRESS: The RA President Serzh Sargsyan and
President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev will attend August
20 the official ceremony of Gyumri’s ‘Hill of Honor’ memorial complex.

Ashot Poghosyan, head of the press center of the ‘Patvi Gorts (Matter
of Honor)’ Armenian-Russian benevolent organization, which is engaged
in the organizing of the improvement works of the territory, told
Armenpress that a monument, dedicated to the lieutenants, will be
erected on the Hill of Honor. The monument is like that of blown up
1919 in Kars. The monument is created on the basis of the design of
Oleg Vladimirov, architect.

‘Hill of Honor’ memorial complex is the burial site of the 156 Russian
soldiers, who were killed in the 1855 and 1877-1878 Russian-Turkish
wars. It was established on the decree of Colonel N. Muravlev.

The idea of restoration of the ‘Hill of Honor’ memorial complex belongs
to Russian Ambassador to Armenia Vyacheslav Kovalenko. A working group,
headed by President of Pan-Armenian Youth Center Andranik Nikoghosyan,
was established 2009 for the coordination of the works.

has been registered in the Karabakhi-Azerbaijani contact line during
the night of August 16 and 17. Press service of the NKR Defense Army
told Armenpress that the Azerbaijani side opened fire in the direction
of Armenian posts located in Hadrout, Martuni, Askeran and Martakert.

After the response fire the enemy stopped.

of organizing such camps especially under the auspices of the Defense
Army considering it among the pivotal means of physical training and
patriotic upbringing of the young generation.

Computer Classes For NKR Citizens With Visual Problems

COMPUTER CLASSES FOR NKR CITIZENS WITH VISUAL PROBLEMS

STEPANAKERT, AUGUST 18, ARMENPRESS: It is already 2 years that the
Social Insurance Ministry of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic organizes
computer classes for citizens with visual problems within the
frameworks of “Arev” program. Head of the Social Support Department
of the Ministry Samvel Israelyan told Armenpress that 10 people are
involved in this year’s program.

The computer classes are implemented by the specialists invited from
the Scientific-Research Institute of Yerevan Mathematical Machines,
who are also the authors of the program. According to S. Israelyan,
last year’s classes were conducted according to “Arev-3” system, this
year’s – according to better improved “Arev-4”, the main advantage
of which is its being multilingual.

Speaking of the choice of the participant citizens, S. Israelyan said
that they must have at least secondary education. After 24-day classes
the participants, besides certificates, will also receive computers
with additional equipments.
