ArmInfo. In the information war against Azerbaijan the Armenian party
has to raise the level of awareness of local residents about the
Karabakh conflict, the expert of the Public Relations and Information
Centre under the president’s administration, Alen Gevondyan, said
at the presentation ceremony of the book ‘Nagornyy Karabakh: How
it happened’.

To note, Professor of Yerevan State University, political expert
Aleksandr Manasyan is the author of the book, which analyses the events
led to the Azerbaijani aggression against the people of Nagornyy
Karabakh. Basing on international legal documents the author proves
legitimacy of Nagornyy Karabakh independence proclaiming.

Gevondyan said the book is a very valuable source of information
about the Karabakh conflict and its reasons.

He also added the book is not rated only to the Armenian readers. It
will be soon translated in English, French, Russian, German and other
languages, including Turkish.

Maragha – It Was Truly Like A Contemporary Golgotha Many Times Over

MARAGHA – IT WAS TRULY LIKE A CONTEMPORARY GOLGOTHA MANY TIMES OVER

ArmInfo. “Maragha – It was truly like a contemporary Golgotha
many times over,” said Baroness Caroline Cox whose words have been
repeatedly cited during presentation of a website telling about this
tragedy. The website unveiling that horrifying incidents in the village
of Maragha on April 10 1992 was presented on September 9 in Yerevan.

Samvel Martirosyan, the information security expert, says presentation
of maragha.org is just beginning of the work. He says that much is
still to be done to reveal all the black points of what happened in
Maragha. For instance, the exact number of the killed Armenians is
not known yet. S. Martirosyan says that the NKR Prosecutor’s Office
will provide 5 volumes of documents and materials on that vicious
genocide of the Armenian population.

“Genocide of Armenians in Maragha is a bright example of armenophoby
because most of the killed were peaceful residents including children
and old people. Today Azerbaijan keeps on implanting the image of
enemy-Armenians and welcoming such crimes. For instance, mass media
of that country has been praising and calling a hero the Azerbaijani
soldier that viciously axed the head of the Armenian officer. This is
abnormal, ” the expert says. Other less known facts of bloodshed by
Azerbaijanis with regard to the Armenian population, specifically, the
tragic incidents in Kirovabad, will be disseminated worldwide, he says.

Maragha was one of the largest villages of Nagorno Karabakh. It WAS
because on April 10, 1992, the Azeri’ “omon” forces broke into the
peaceful village Maraga, neighboring the Azeri town of Mirbashir.

Barbaric massacre was inflicted. 45 people were tortured to death. 49
people were taken hostage, of them 9 children, 18 women, 3 elderly
(one of the elderly people was visually impaired). 19 of them are
still missing. The massacre continued from April 22 through April
23 when the survived residents of Maraga returned to the village to
bury the dead. Marahga tragedy was a link in the chain of genocides
committed by Azerbaijanis against Armenian population. Maragha tragedy
differs from others with the fact that the village was aside the
military actions and the small group of self-defense in the village
was armed with hunters’ guns and constituted no threat to the army
of Azerbaijan. Baroness Caroline Cox, who had visited the place of
the tragedy, was shocked to the innermost of her heart by what she
had seen. ‘They are not of human race’ – the Baroness said.

DECISION TO PUT CROSS ON DOME OF HOLY CROSS CHURCH HAS ALREADY BEEN MADE

PanARMENIAN.Net
September 9, 2010 – 16:13 AMT 11:13 GMT

The decision to put the cross on the dome of Holy Cross Church has
already been made by the Government, according to Kaan Soyak, the
Co-Chairman of Turkish-Armenian Business Development Council (TABDC).

“My understanding, there are some delays due to either domestic
political reasons which involved whole Turkey in the last several
months and also technical reasons, because the weight of the cross is
about 300 kilograms. But there is no question of putting or not putting
the cross. This has already been decided by the Government. It is
going to be put very soon,” the TABDC Co-Chairman told PanARMENIAN.Net

“All of Turkey has been focused on referendum in the last several
months and Turkey is passing through a very sensitive period of
her history as one can imagine. Please also bear in mind that the
opposition parties of Turkey are openly against any step towards
normalization of the relations between Armenia and Turkey.

Armenia is perhaps not participating in the liturgy “physically”
for some reasons unknown to me but I am very sure that their hearts
will be there in Akthamar during the ceremony,” Kaan Soyak said.

LEVON ATOYANTS: LIBERATOR SOLDIERS DID NOT FEEL FEAR, AS THEY WERE CONFIDENT IN THEIR VICTORY IN KARABAKH WAR

On September 9, Before Victory exhibition of famous Armenian filmmaker
Levon Atoyants was opened in Yerevan to feature his photos of liberator
soldiers who participated in the Karabakh war.

Atoyan said that, basically, he shot films and took photos when he
ran out of film. Referring to the Karabakh war, Atoyants noted that
he felt fear the first days of his presence in Karabakh, but his fear
has disappeared after several days of observation of confident and
merry faces of soldiers.

“There was no fear, as everyone was confident in the victory,” he said.

Among his heroes, Atoyants marked out 15-year-old Roma, a refugee
from Baku. “He ran away from home to participate in the war,” noted
the Armenian filmmaker.

“I have got only good memories of Karabakh and I did not want to
leave it after completion of the war,” said Atoyants.

Referring to the current process of the Karabakh conflict settlement,
Atoyants noted that Armenia does not need to prove anything to the
world. He added that the country should intensify its advocacy efforts
in response to Azerbaijani falsifications.

Yerevan Hosts Maraghar-20th Century Golgotha Project Presentation

YEREVAN HOSTS MARAGHAR-20TH CENTURY GOLGOTHA PROJECT PRESENTATION

September 9, 2010 – 15:40 AMT 10:40 GMT

Xenophobia Prevention Initiative presented a new website and a film
highlighting tragic events which occurred on April 10, 1992 in the
village of Maraghar.

The Maragha.org trilingual website provides information about the
genocide of the villagers perpetrated by Azeri forces. This project is
an attempt to show the real history of Maraghar, in hopes of preventing
repetition of such tragedies in future. “We hope our website will
help people realize the disastrous consequences of the war. Today,
Azerbaijan encourages crimes, awarding a national hero title to the
officer who killed an Armenian soldier,” information security expert
Samvel Martirosyan stressed.

On April 10, 1992, forces from Azerbaijan attacked the Armenian
village of Maraghar in northeastern Karabakh. The villagers awoke at
7 a.m. to the sound of heavy shelling; then tanks rolled in, followed
by infantry, followed by civilians with pick-up trucks to take home
the pickings of the looting they knew would follow the eviction of
the villagers.

Azeri soldiers sawed off the heads of 45 villagers, burnt others,
took 100 women and children away as hostages, looted and set fire to
all the homes, and left with all the pickings from the looting.

LARISA ALAVERDYAN: ARMENIAN POGROMS IN MARAGHAR- CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY

PanARMENIAN.Net
September 9, 2010 – 16:30 AMT 11:30 GMT

Heritage parliamentary group secretary Larisa Alaverdyan characterized
Armenian pogroms in the village of Maraghar as a crime against
humanity.

“The authorities of the impendent Azerbaijan stopped at nothing. To
justify their actions, Azeri authorities committed crimes not only
against Armenian population, but also against their compatriots,”
Alaverdyan told a news conference in Yerevan.

As she noted, the project Maraghar-20th Century Golgotha is not aimed
at stirring hatred against Azeri people, rather, being an attempt at
preventing such genocides in future.

ALEXANDER MANASYAN: ARMENIA CAN DRAFT SUCH RESOLUTION, WHICH WILL RATHER COMPLICATE AZERBAIJAN’S SITUATION

PanARMENIAN.Net
September 9, 2010 – 12:29 AMT 07:29 GMT

Political analyst Alexander Manasyan said that one should not
overestimate or underestimate the resolution on the so-called “occupied
territories” submitted by Azerbaijan to the UN General Assembly.

Azerbaijan has drafted such a package, which is acceptable for
international institutions, Manasyan told a press conference in
Yerevan.

He believes that Armenia can draft a more influential resolution,
which will be acceptable almost for everybody.

Manasyan noted that Armenia can offer the following variant for the
conflict resolution: the parties should liberate the territories,
which do not belong to them under the international law. “Karabakh’s
recognition by Azerbaijan is a political act, but not a legal one.

>From the legal point of view, Azerbaijan is an occupant, but not
Armenia, as, under the Treaty of Kars, Nakhichevan does not belong to
Azerbaijan. Consequently, if we offer a relevant resolution, Azerbaijan
will be in a rather complicate situation,” concluded Manasyan.

RA GOVERNMENT TO INCREASE FINANCING OF IT FIELD IN 2011

PanARMENIAN.Net
September 9, 2010 – 17:31 AMT 12:31 GMT

Head of High and Information Technologies Department at the RA Ministry
of Economy Vache Kirakosyan said that the Armenian government will
increase financing of the IT field in 2011.

The drop in funds for IT development in 2010 – from AMD 200mln to AMD
80mln – was reasoned by general reductions in the budget with respect
to the global economic crisis, Kirakosyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net
reporter.

Besides, according to him, a huge sum was allocated for the
construction of a technology park in Gyumri.

“The total amount of state financing made AMD 280mln in 2010, taking
into consideration the funds allocated for the technology park in
Gyumri,” said Vache Kirakosyan.
