ARP YOUTH ORGANIZATION VISITS YERABLUR

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 23, ARMENPRESS: The youth organization of the
Armenian Republican Party organized today a visit to Yerablur. Over
100 students and young people, who were wearing T-shirts with pictures
of Armenian national heroes, paid their tribute to the memory of the
Armenian heroes.

Karen Avagyan, head of the ARP youth organization, said today at a
briefing that it is not the first time the ARP youth organization
visits Yerablur. He said the visit was unique as it was dedicated to
the 20th anniversary of the ARP.

‘First of all the program is informative, and its main goal is to
educate and plant seeds of military-patriotic spirit. Such events
are very important, especially when they are organized by the young,’
Karen Avagyan said.

The participants received guides, which were published within the
framework of the program. The guides summarize the biographies of
the heroes of the Republics of Armenia and Artsakh.

According to Edgar Hovhannisyan, chairman of ARP youth organization’s
propaganda- ideological committee, author of the book, this is the
first time that a comprehensive guide of biographies of 15 national
heroes of the RA and 20 Artsakh war heroes of NKR is published.

After the visit to Yerablur, the participants visited the
Tsitsernakaberd (Swallow’s Fortress) memorial, Pantheon of the
Komitas Park, as well as Echmiadzin. They will visit November 24
Sasunik community, Talin and Byurakan towns of Aragatsotn Marz.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 23, ARMENPRESS: The 10th anniversary of the ‘Nork’
informational-analytical center of the Labor and Social Affairs
Ministry of Armenia was marked today in Yerevan. Congratulating the
staff of the center, RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arthur
Grigoryan said that the center was established for the investment
of new technologies in the social protection sphere. ‘Behind the
statistical data they present, there is daily diligent work.

Realizing the weight of the challenges of our sphere and necessity of
urgent solution to the current issues, I emphasize the importance of
the role and significance of ‘Nork’ informational-analytical center,’
Arthur Grigoryan said. He added that one of the goals of the center
is to promote the investment of culture of usage of IT in Artsakh.

According to RA Economy Minister Nerses Yeritsyan, one of the
specifications of the center’s activity is that being a state
establishment, it attracted the attention of the business community.

‘This example is inspiring and I think that we will mange to apply it
in other state administration bodies as well,’ Nerses Yeritsyan said.

According to Hayk Chobanyan, director of the center, ‘Nork’ secures
the analytical base of the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

Each month the center presents over 100 various reports and analyses.

Hayk Chobanyan informed that the center also makes analyses for the
ministries of education and science, justice and Diaspora.

In accordance with a decision by RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan,
a number of employees of the center were awarded with certificates
of gratitude. The employees were awarded with medals and certificates
by the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs as well.

SERZH SARGSYAN PARTICIPATES IN THE OPENING OF “ARMPRODEXPO” EXHIBITION

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 23, ARMENPRESS: The 10th annual international
“Armprodexpo” exhibition opened today in the session hall of the RA
Government at the presence of the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.

The exhibition presents different kinds of drinks, canned vegetables,
meat, dairy products, sweets, cigarettes both of national and
foreign productions. Leading companies of the republic, enterprises
representing small business as well as more than 20 food producing
foreign enterprises from Belarus, Ukraine, Austria, Germany, Finland
are among the participants of the event.

The head of the republic accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture
Gerasim Alaverdyan walked across the pavilions, tasted the presented
goods.

Gerasim Alaverdyan said the main goal of the exhibition is to present
the development of re-processing industry of the republic, show the
best products produced in Armenia, create direct ties among local
and foreign organizations, reveal new markets and promote export.

“The exhibition is an important step in advertising the local products,
spreading them in the international market, establishing economic
ties,” the agriculture minister said, adding that the participant
guests will also visit local re-processing enterprises.

Gerasim Alaverdyan said a number of events – meetings, round-table
discussions will be held within the framework of the exhibition.

Director of the Armenia’s Agro Business Development Center Armen
Davtyan said the representation of international enterprises in the
exhibition speaks about the increase of authority of “Armprodexpo”.

“Here the progress of the food industry sphere is being presented. One
of the important factors of the exhibition is the establishment of
international ties which will contribute to the increase of the volume
of exports from our country,” Davtyan said.

The exhibition is organized by the RA Agriculture and Foreign Affairs
Ministries, RA Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Agro Business
Development Center. The exhibition will last until November 26.

"Artsakh Hydroelectric Power Station" Provided Profit Of 1 Billion 3

“ARTSAKH HYDROELECTRIC POWER STATION” PROVIDED PROFIT OF 1 BILLION 31 MILLION AMD

“Artsakh Hydroelectric Power Station” OJSC has produced 154 million
90 thousand kWh electric energy over this year, the 152 million of
which has been produced by “Sarsang Hydroelectric Power Station” and
the 2 million 900 thousand – by “Trghe” hydroelectric power station
handed to exploitation this April.

Director of “Artsakh Hydroelectric Power Station” Vahram Beglaryan
told Armenpress that during the running 10 months the company has
provided a profit of 1 billion 31 million instead of the intended 660
million. According to professional forecasts, the company’s profit
will make 1 billion 200 million AMD at the end of the year.

Director of “Artsakh Hydroelectric Power Station” said that expansive
works are going on in the direction of construction of 3 small
hydroelectric power stations on Tartar and Trghe Rivers, which will
be handed to exploitation in the first half of the upcoming year. Mr.

Beglaryan said that the cost of the program on construction of
“Trghe-2”, “Mataghis-1” and “Mataghis-2” is 9 billion AMD, 6 billion
of which has already been spent on the current construction works.

In future the company plans to construct 5 other hydroelectric
stations, the 3 of which on Karkar River, two – on Ishkhanaget. On
the whole, after construction of all the hydroelectric stations
“Artsakh Hydroelectric Power Station” will have 83 megawatt power,
which will enable to annually produce 270 million kWh electric energy.

"Elbat" Battery Factory Opens

“ELBAT” BATTERY FACTORY OPENS

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 23, ARMENPRESS: “Elbat” battery factory opened today
at the presence of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan. Chairman of the
Board of Directors of the factory Samvel Abrahamyan said the factory
is able to produce 300 000 from 25 to 210 ampere batteries annually
for all kinds of vehicles. “Our products are of high-quality, we have
European high-level laboratory equipped with all the necessary devices
and technology,” he said, adding that the factory has high-quality
staff who were trained by high-quality European specialists. The
average salary of the employees is 206 000 AMD. Samvel Abrahamyan
said currently the factory has 145 employees and soon their number
will reach 170.

The president walked across the factory, got acquainted with the
production opportunities and powers.

The technical director of the factory Hakob Hakobyan said after
studying the Armenian market in 2007 a business plan was worked out
and in 2008 the reconstruction of the old factory started and ended in
2009. Afterward, the newest equipments were brought from 13 European
countries – Italy, Germany, Austria, etc.

Armenian vice prime minister, territorial administration minister
Armen Gevorgyan, economy minister Nerses Yeritsyan and Yerevan mayor
Gagik Beglaryan were present at the event.

5 Million Euros For Obtaining Of Proton Accelerator

5 MILLION EUROS FOR OBTAINING OF PROTON ACCELERATOR

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 23, ARMENPRESS: An agreement on obtaining of
“Cyclone 18/18” cyclotron was signed today between the Armenian
government and “IBA Molecular” company. A loan agreement was also
signed between the Republic of Armenia and Belgian “KBCNV” bank,
by which the government will receive privileged loan of 5 million
Euros for purpose of obtaining a proton accelerator.

By signing of these agreements the first round of the works of the
Armenian Oncology Center of Excellence will start – establishment of
center for production of radioisotopes.

The Armenian Oncology Center of Excellence is a joint program of the
Armenian Healthcare and Economy Ministries and National Competitiveness
Foundation of Armenia. The program intends to establish an Oncology
center of Excellence in Yerevan consisting of a complex for production
of radioisotopes, diagnostic center and oncology clinic. The goal of
the program is to define new local excellence standards in the spheres
of oncology diagnosis and treatment, cooperating with European and
American leading specialists and clinics.

Wide opportunities of implementation of investments in the given
sphere will be created.

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 23, ARMENPRESS: The traditional all-European phone
marathon of ‘Hayastan’ All-Armenian Fund was held November 18-21
in France.

An official from the fund told Armenpress that the fundraising-event,
in which local bodies of France, Germany, Switzerland, Holland and
Greece partook, recorded a 1million 300,000 – euro donation pledge.

The donations will be directed to the construction and restoration of
water systems in the Artsakhi villages of Togh, Hartashen, Ukhtadzor,
Aknaghbyur and Sargsashen. The investments in Tavush Province will
go on as well.

Petros Terzyan, head of the bureau of the Fund’s French local body,
said that despite the economic crisis, many people responded to the
call for donation positively. For 4 days, 12 hours per day, over 650
volunteers phoned people and called Armenian business establishments
and families to help the compatriots in remote villages of Artsakh
and Armenia. In the result, donation pledges from more than 11 200
families was recorded. This year donation pledges increased by 10%.

Gerard Depardieu, film actor, and Andre Manukyan, Armenian
pianist-composer, supported the phone marathon with their addresses.

Vigen Chitechyan, Armenia’s ambassador to France, was present at
the closing ceremony of the phone marathon. Petros Terzyan, head of
the bureau of the Fund’s French local body, expressed gratitude to
the partners and volunteers and presented the results of the phone
marathon: 1.1 million-euro donation pledge from France, 70,000-euro –
from Germany, 18,000-euro – from Switzerland, 46000-euro – from Greece,
and 21,000-euro donation pledge from Holland.

NKR PRIME MINISTER CONDUCTS WORKING CONSULTATION ON AGRICULTURAL SPHERE

NKR Prime Minister Ara Harutyunyan conducted today a working
consultation with NKR Minister of Agriculture Armo Tsaturyan and
heads of the county administration.

Press service of the NKR government told Armenpress that during
the consultation Agricultural Minister Armo Tsaturyan reported that
currently about 41 thousand hectares and 28 hectares sowing.

Taking into consideration the circumstance that the dry weather will
continue in the republic in the upcoming two weeks, the Prime Minister
assigned the responsible authorities of the sphere and the heads of
the county administrations participating in the consultation to carry
out works among farmers, in order the latter avoid inefficient steps
of cultivations.

the Road Safety Council of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan participated today
in international forum on road safety, conducted under the heading of
“Let’s Make the Roads Safe”.

Press service of the Armenian government told Armenpress that welcoming
the organizers and participants of the forum, the Prime Minister
particularly noted: “In the recent period we pay big attention to
traffic safety issues. It is important for us that there is public
support, active public participation, which essentially facilitates
our tasks, as cooperating with NGOs, we make our society competent
on the situation of citizens, we undertake joint measures.

Moreover, the national program adopted by the government has been
drafted with immediate participation of our NGOs. It is a guarantee
that we will manage to essentially reduce the number of traffic
accidents in Armenia.”

“Referring to the main directions of increasing the traffic safety,
Tigran Sargsyan presented the further tasks in the direction of
reduction of traffic accidents. He especially pointed out the
importance of introducing a road audit system in Armenia and on
increasing public competence on security rules.

During the international forum concluding the series of events
conducted this year in Armenia under the heading of “Let’s Make Roads
Safe”, the works implemented in Armenia and at international level
in the direction of ensuring road safety were presented.

Director General of FIA Foundation David Ward handed to Armenian
Prime Minister the invitation of participating in the opening of
“Decade of Actions” program proclaimed by the UN and of presenting
Armenia’s achievements in traffic safety. That global campaign will
launch in 2011 April, London.

Tigran Sargsyan signed under the program’s motto of “Lets’ Make
Road Secure”, confirming the support of the Armenian government to
implementation of “Decade of Actions” program.
