Kim Kardashian upset over her nude photo in W magazine

12:47 – 03.02.11

Reality star and occasional model Kim Kardashian has blasted W
Magazine on her show for a nude shoot she did back in October for
their November Art issue, Fashion.gearlive.com reported.

Despite having previously posed nude in Playboy and Harper’s Bazaar,
Kardashian was extremely upset over what she claims was misrepresented
when pitched to her:

“Oh my God, I’m more naked that I was in Playboy. I’m so mad right
now. [The magazine] promised I would be covered with artwork – you can
see the nipples! The whole concept was sold to me that nothing would
be seen. I feel so taken advantage of … I’ve definitely learned my
lesson. I’m never taking my clothes off again, even if it’s for
Vogue,” she said.

`Law-Violator With Abusers’

`LAW-VIOLATOR WITH ABUSERS’

Lragir.am
02/02/2011

`Everyone is happy when a boy isborn in our families. But the boy
grows and becomes 12-13 years old and appears an abuser like Serob
Ter-Poghosyan…’, a discussion on the protection of children victims of
sexual abuse began with these words of the Representative of People in
Need organization Tatevik Bezhanyan. The discussion dwelt on a right
behavior towards the victims of sexual abuse, but few noted that just
in the beginning the presumption of innocence was violated.

There are already public discussions on the fact that the owner of
`Metal Prince’ corporation, former adviser of the Prime Minister is an
abuser, but there is no judicial act in this connection.

We asked the Representative of People in Need organization Tatevik
Bezhanyan why she violated the presumption of innocence of Serob
Ter-Poghosyan. She said that online news portal `Hetq’ already did it,
while Ter-Poghosyan was never called an abuser in Hetq articles.

We asked whether she is a law-violator, she answered that when she
deals with abusers, she is. She said sure that Ter-Poghosyan is an
abuser.

It is found out that even the law enforcement bodies were interested
in Serob Ter-Poghosyan’s activities but investigation was launched
only after publications in the press. In answer to our question why
the prosecutor’s office waits for publications and only then launches
a criminal case, a senior prosecutor Artur Ghambaryan answered that a
reason for a criminal case can be information by an individual or a
press means. Without this, launching a criminal case will be
considered a law breach.

Do the police have no function of revelation and prevention of crimes?
Tatevik Bezhanyan answered: `Do they have to walk in the streets
looking for abusers?’

Representative of the General Prosecutor’s office Artur Ghambaryan
thinks Serob Ter-Poghosyan’s case should be considered by the Special
Investigation Service for protection of children’s rights and an
objective investigation.

Criminal Affairs Specialist of Judicial Department Hayk Harutyunyan
said that in 2000-2010 period, 112 people were sexually abused, 101 of
which minors.

Speakers think that sexual abusers should be deprived of freedom
instead of paying a fine of 100 thousand drams.

Armenia

There are Armenians in different circles of Turkish government,
and they may be attending in the parliamentary elections in summer,
expert of Turkish studies Hakob Chaqryan said in a news conference.

“If Armenian or other foreign candidates are included in Erdogan’s
electoral list, they can demonstrate it to the world and to Europe,
as if they pay attention on the national minorities,” expert said
adding that they wouldn’t have much power to impact on any issue,
particularly Armenian-Turkish relations.

Turkish Parliamentary elections are scheduled for June 12.

ANKARA: Dink Family Calls On Ministers To Implement ECHR Decision

DINK FAMILY CALLS ON MINISTERS TO IMPLEMENT ECHR DECISION

BIAnet.org

Feb 3 2011
Turkey

The family of slain Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink called on
state ministers to implement the finalized decision of the ECHR on
the Hrant Dink case. In a letter, the family urged for an effective
and in-depth investigation and a change of attitude to avoid further
violations.

Istanbul – Bia News Agency03 February 2011, Thursday The family of
slain journalist Hrant Dink addressed the Foreign Minister Ahmet
DavutoÄ~_lu, the Minister of the Interior, BeÅ~_ir Atalay, and the
Minister of Justice, Sadullah Ergin, with their written request to
enforce the decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR)
regarding the murder of Hrant Dink. The decision was finalized on 14
December 2010.

Turkish-Armenian journalist Dink, then Chief Editor of the Armenian
Agos newspaper, was shot dead in front of the Agos office on 19
January 2007.

“Mentality needs to change to prevent further violations” The Dink
family called on the state institutions and the judicial offices to
fulfill their duty imposed by the ECHR decision. The international
court decided for a violation of rights related to the Dink case. The
Dink family also demanded to take the necessary measures to prevent
further violations.

It was emphasized in the letter that a reiteration of the violations
should be prevented by changing the attitude and the structure that
emerged from the violations. It was said that the violations should
be eliminated completely.

The letter dated 28 January 2011 was written on behalf of Dink’s widow
Rakel Dink, their children Delal, Arat and Sera Dink, Hosrof Dink as
the brother of the killed journalist and family lawyer Fethiye Ã~Getin.

The letter claimed that the judiciary system, the concept of
judiciary and its practices should be reviewed in order to prevent
the reiteration of the violations of duty within state organs and
during the investigation of the assassination.

“Legal instruments of new investigations should be researched” The
Dink family demanded to investigate the people who did not fulfill
their legal responsibility when they failed to take precautionary
measures although they had information about the murder of Hrant Dink.

Additionally, they demanded an investigation by the prosecution into
the destruction, concealing and changing of evidence and also into
the connections between the defendants and the persons responsible
for treating the alleged prime suspect of the murder like a hero.

The family of the killed Turkish-Armenian journalist said that the
entire investigations carried out by the Trabzon prosecution which
resulted in impunity should be retried. However, they demanded that
this should be conducted directly by the prosecutors who investigated
the Hrant Dink murder and not within the scope of Law No. 4483 which
was determined not to be an effective way of investigation by the
ECHR decision.

Moreover, it was requested to investigate the inactivity of the
public officials regarding the failed prevention of the Dink murder
and the actuality of evidence for the murder being concealed under
Articles 314, 39, 220, 204 and 83 of the Turkish Criminal Law (TCK)
and Article 8/2 of the Criminal Procedural Law (CMK).

Effective and in-depth investigation The Dink family called for an
effective and in-depth research to determine what happened after the
murder. They also urged for a clarification whether the murder had
a racist background or not.

“It has to be confirmed whether the murder was motivated by racism and
whether prejudice based on ethnic origins played a role. Therefore,
prosecutors should be appointed that will investigate from one central
point the periods of time prior and subsequent to the murder under
this aspect”.

It was also emphasized that attention should be drawn to the opinions
held by the Turkish judiciary considering the ECHR’s decision for a
violation of freedom of expression of Hrant Dink prior to his death.

The Dink family stressed that obstacles before freedom of expression
should be lifted and that positive measures should be taken to protect
individuals from potential attacks on freedom of expression.

Christians In The Middle East And The American Dream

CHRISTIANS IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND THE AMERICAN DREAM
By Alex Nowrasteh

Fox News

Feb 2 2011

The current uprising in Egypt is troubling many Christians throughout
the region, but it is not a stand alone incident. Pope Benedict XVI’s
New Year’s message highlighted anti-Christian violence in the Middle
East. French President Nicolas Sarkozy even declared that Christians
there were victims of “religious cleansing.” Mobs have sacked churches
and attacked Christian throughout the region. This is the latest round
of Muslim-on-Christian violence that has been escalating for decades.

A Muslim Brotherhood takeover in Egypt, a distinct possibility,
would be very hostile to the millions of Christians living there.

The pope also noted that many Middle Eastern Christians seek to
emigrate and escape the violence. Sadly, American immigration laws
prevent most Christians from seeking safety in the U.S. Changing our
immigration laws could save many of their lives, and help America, too.

Egypt’s Coptic Christians have borne the brunt of religious violence.

A suicide bomber in Alexandria killed 21 Copts and injured more
than 90 in early January. In Iraq, similar violence against Chaldean
Christians and Catholics has decimated their numbers. Two weeks ago,
an off-duty Egyptian police officer killed a 71 year-old Christian
man and wounded five Christian women. Worryingly, police sometimes
sit idly by as Muslim mobs attack Christians. Political violence in
Egypt might fuel further religious violence.

Anti-Christian violence is not new to the Middle East. The Armenian
genocide, which killed more than 1 million Armenian Christians (perhaps
many more), was heavily motivated by religious strife. Over the last
100 years, sectarian violence throughout the region has sent millions
of refugees streaming across borders.

The United States has a long history of welcoming religious refugees.

The Pilgrims fled the Netherlands to settle in Massachusetts. Irish
Catholics escaped English oppression for the promise of America.

Eastern European Jews increasingly came after violent anti-Semitic
pogroms in the late 19th century drove them out of their homes. Many
Armenians fled genocide and war to settle in California. But then
America changed its immigration laws.

Before 1921, America was the world’s safety net for religious
refugees. But that year, the federal government imposed the nation’s
first immigration quotas removing the last hope for many millions
of people seeking to flee dictatorship, war, and genocide. That
helped create the complicated, dysfunctional, and expensive federal
immigration bureaucracy we know today.

Those restrictions led to the U.S. government’s shameful turning away
of ships full of German Jews fleeing Nazi Germany.

After World War II, the government changed its policies and began
to accept more refugees. But even now, only 80,000 are to be allowed
entry in 2011-including a mere 37,000 from the Middle East and South
Asia. In a real emergency, that quota is too puny.

The burden should be on the government to prove that a refugee
is a threat, not on the refugee to prove his well-founded fear of
persecution. Many persecuted people make it to the U.S. to seek asylum,
but are returned or held in limbo due to legal minutiae. For Iraqi
refugees, court and processing delays range from 12 to 21 months,
affecting about 25,000 refugee seekers according to the advocacy
group Human Rights First. Refugees who are not criminals, suspected
terrorists, or infected with transmittable deadly diseases should be
allowed entry into the U.S. without numerical cap.

Letting today’s refugees resettle in the U.S. is not an act of
charity. Allowing persecuted Christians from Muslim lands to move
here could bolster American intelligence. Middle Eastern Christians
know Arabic and local cultures, skills severely lacking in U.S.

intelligence agencies a decade after 9/11. Arabic is a notoriously
difficult language to learn and the cultural nuances of the Muslim
world often confound Western analysts.

They would also bring large economic benefits. If current Middle
Eastern Christian immigrants are any indicator, refugees from that
part of the world will be entrepreneurial, educated, and willing to
assimilate into American society. Importantly, there is already a
large Middle Eastern Christian community in the U.S. that could help
them adjust. The same applies to religious refugees from China and
North Korea.

Ideally, religious violence against Christians in the Middle East will
cease. If Egypt descends into anarchy or an anti-Christian regime takes
power there, the U.S. should prepare for the worst –especially when
allowing in more victims of religious persecution benefits Americans.

Under today’s refugee rules, the Pilgrims would not be allowed
to settle here because they were relatively unmolested in The
Netherlands. Any law that would deny our forefathers and ancestors
the right to immigrate here needs to be changed.
