ACTORS COMPLAIN OF ARMEN DZIGARKHANYAN’S 30-YEAR-OLD MISTRESS

A new scandal has engulfed Armen Dzigarkhanyan’s Moscow Drama Theater.

This time the guilty is the well-known 75-year-old actor’s new lover,
reports Express Gazeta.

“A few years ago, Vitalina Cymbalyuk Romanovskaya came to work
for us,” said one of Dzigarkhanyan’s employees. “She was offered
[the position of] concertmistress [Konzertmeister] in the Ali Baba
production, where… she continued to work under the auspices of
Armen Dzigarkhanyan. It was clear that he encouraged Vitalina. She is
stubborn and confident: she isn’t afraid of expressing her opinion,
despite the fact that she’s not even 30 [years old].”

According to journalists, Dzigarkhanyan before as well tried to
“take care” of those female employees whom he liked. But they let
it be known in a civilized way that they weren’t ready for a romance
with the artistic director. He is married and it’s pointless to begin
a romance, even if his wife lives in the US.

But these issues didn’t bother Vitalina. On the contrary, she began
to struggle twice as hard for Dzigarkhanyan’s attention, writes
Express Gazeta.

“Recently Armen Borisovich’s mistress began to take on more and more
responsibility on important issues,” asserted the actors. “No one has
any more doubts that an ordinary employee has an enormous impact on the
artistic director. And what of the loss of as many as eight actors –
this too is Vitalina’s ‘merit’.”

The unemployed actors told the Russian publication: “The grey mouse
very quickly was able to make a decent theater into a stinking
cesspool. Young actresses fear her like they fear fire.”

Armen Dzigarkhanyan, however, commented on the situation as follows:
“In the theater, not everyone can be Hamlet. At best, there is one.

For example, when they tell me that [director Yuri] Lyubimov took the
money from Taganka Theater and put it in his pocket, I continue to
stand by his side. After all, he created those people; he made them
professionals. Play well. Then you will both eat and drink well. Fight
against gossip – put a little something in their dinner!”

Expert: ANC Lacks Critical Mass To Achieve Change Of Power

EXPERT: ANC LACKS CRITICAL MASS TO ACHIEVE CHANGE OF POWER

PanARMENIAN.Net
September 16, 2011 – 13:15 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – A political analyst, Caucasus Institute director
is skeptical that Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc
rallies will be able to gather 500 thousand participants to achieve
change of power in Armenia.

“Only a critical mass would be able to bring about a revolution, which
is far from happening at the moment,” Alexander Iskandaryan stated.

At the same time, he begged to differ from a view earlier expressed by
Armenian National Movement board chairman Aram Manukyan, who stressed
the importance of the quality of demonstrators, over their quantity.

“To pressure the authorities, the quantity of rally participants is
by far more important,” the expert noted.

“ANC’s deviating position, criticising the authorities on the one hand,
and engaging in a dialogue on the other, can’t but impact the number
of its supporters,” Iskandaryan concluded.

Representatives of the ruling coalition have held meetings since
July 18, the two main issues on the agenda being conduction of
extraordinary election (on ANC demand) and development of canons of
political competition (as suggested by the authorities).

Problems emerged when police detained 7 young ANC activists. According
to the ANC, on August 9 police officers used violence against ANC
activists Tigran Arakelyan and Artak Karapetyan. Upon arrival to the
site, activists Areg Gevorgyan, Sahak Muradyan, Vahagn Gevorgyan,
Sargis Gevorgyan and David Kirimajyan tried to settle the dispute but
were beaten as well, the ANC said. All above-mentioned were taken to
a police station.

Currently, Tigran Arakelyan is kept in custody. The others were
released.

On August 26, the Congress announced that it suspends the dialogue
and believes Arakelyan to be a political prisoner.

As ANC leader stated at recent rally in Yerevan, refusal to release
Arakelyan within the next few days will prove the incident between
the police and opposition supporter to be a put-up job. According to
Levon Ter-Petrossian, unless the detainee is released, ANC is ready
to mobilize its supporters to force ruling authorities into conducting
to snap elections.

Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper editor-in-chief Nikol Pashinyan, in turn,
urged those gathered for a revolution; promising that the ruling
President will resign within 24 hours, should 500 thousand people
take to streets to voice their protest.

Neither US nor Armenia and any other country recognize the so-called
“Nagorno-Karabakh” Republic.

The statement came from spokesperson for the US embassy in Baku Keith
Bean while commenting on reports by US-based Armenian website Asbarez
claiming that event on separatist Nagnorno-Karabakh was held in Golden
Hall of the US Congress on 13 September.

‘The Congress was not marking “independence” of Karabakh. The event
was organized by the co-chairs of the Armenian group in Congress,”
Bean said.

In the US political system congressmen, as representatives of the
legislative branch, have are entitled to organize an event without
permission from the executive branch.

The delegation of separatists from the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region

VAZRIK BAZIL: ARMENIA MISREPRESENTS ITSELF AT INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITS

PanARMENIAN.Net
September 15, 2011 – 18:05 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – Armenia misrepresents itself at international
exhibitions, Doctor of Philosophy Vazrik Bazil believes.

At news conference in Yerevan, the expert noted that Armenia’s
exhibition halls are designed rather casually; yet, to impress foreign
visitors, the country must attempt to stress its difference from other
states in the region. “Unfortunately, Armenia keeps failing at that.

For example, Armenian folk dances are in no way different from Georgian
ones,” he noted.

“However, Armenia could present its heritage in an original manner
to stress the difference. Armenians are too obsessed with the past. I
don’t mean that the past must be renounced, yet one may try to merge
the past and the present in one idea,” he said.
