Masis Mayilyan: Ban on my entry to Russia is a misinformation

Arminfo. Armenia
March 4 2020

ArmInfo.Information about the ban on my entry to Russia is misinformation. A similar opinion was expressed by ArmInfo Foreign Minister, Artsakh presidential candidate  Masis Mayilyan.

On March 3, the Yerevan-based Hraparak newspaper, citing some  sources, distributed “unofficial information according to which the  Russian authorities limited the entry of Masis Mayilyan and Samvel  Babayan into the country for 5 years.”

It is noteworthy that the “information” of “Hraparak” was immediately  picked up and disseminated by the Azerbaijani media. In some cases,  those who regarded this “news” as evidence of Moscow’s reluctance to  take the tandem Mayilyan-Babayan to power in Artsakh. Azerbaijani  colleagues consider the “information” the attention of the Armenian  “Hraparak” as evidence of the increasing chances of ex-state minister  Araik Harutyunyan presidency in Artsakh.

At the upcoming March 31 presidential and parliamentary elections in  Artsakh ex-commander of the Artsakh Defense Army Samvel Babayan  supports the candidacy of the current Foreign Minister of the  Republic of Masis Mayilyana. Mayilyan’s main competitor is Araik  Harutyunyan, which is put by the current authorities of Artsakh and  the former authorities of Armenia.  Now let’s try to draw our own  conclusions briefly. The Hraparak newspaper, working against the “new  Armenia”, is spreading deliberate misinformation in the interests of  “candidate of the past” Araik Harutyunyan. And (attention!)  in the  interests of Azerbaijan. In any case, this is evidenced by a surge of  joyful emotions in the media of a neighboring country in connection  with the “news” about the ban on visits of Mayilyan and Babayan to  Russia. We leave the prerogative of the remaining conclusions to the  Artsakh voters.

Asbarez: Ari Guiragos Minassian School ‘Daring to Dream’ Event Honors Donors

March 6, 2020

Ari Guiragos Minassian Armenian School recently hosted a donor appreciation night entitled “Daring to Dream.” The intimate gathering of 130 guests included representatives of community organizations, parents and donors. The event was held on February 29 at the Pasea Hotel in Huntington Beach.

Emmy award winning Fox 11 news anchor, Araksya Karapetyan graciously attended “Daring to Dream” as the keynote speaker. In her heartwarming remarks, Karapetyan emphasized the importance of becoming the best versions of ourselves so that we can serve as an example to our children. Attendees were inspired by her own story of dreaming big and reaching great achievements.

Later in the evening, School Board Chairman Chris Guldjian presented each community organization an engraved pomegranate piece by Michael Aram as a token of the school’s appreciation. Recipients included Forty Martyrs Armenian Church, Armenian Relief Society “Sevan” Chapter, Armenian Revolutionary Federation “Armen Karo” Gomide, Homenetmen “Sartarabad” Chapter, Hamazkayin “Siamanto” Chapter and the Orange County Armenian Professional Society.

Individual donors who have shown their unwavering support and have helped AGM reach so many of its dreams were also recognized during a legacy pinning ceremony. MC and School Board member Jibit Cinar gifted the donors with hand-made diamond, gold, or silver AGM pins.

During her remarks, Principal Sanan Shirinian expressed her gratitude for the unprecedented support AGM has received. “Don’t just give,” she said, “Give, and advocate for what you are giving to. Be the torchbearers of our vision, take ownership of this place that belongs to you, no matter if you have a child at the school or not.” She stressed that “the children of our community are all our children.”

The pinnacle of the evening was when distinguished guests Drs. Vahe and Armine Meghrouni, who recently made the largest single contribution to AGM in the school’s history, were recognized for their philanthropy. The announcement of their $325,000 donation was met with standing applause and joyful tears. The couple was then surprised with a video tribute about their life story, and gifted with an enlarged photo of Armine’s ancestral home in Kharpert. The engraving on the photograph read “in somnis veritas” – in dreams there is truth.

Every great dream begins with a dreamer.

“I’ve taken my step, now take your step.” Avalanche Ent. has released an official trailer for a documentary titled I Am Not Alone, which originally premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year. It also played at Doc NYC and AFI Fest in the fall. The doc film is about the Armenian revolution of 2018. The movement begins hopelessly, with activist Nikol Pashinyan and just a handful of supporters — including a stray dog — setting out on a 14-day march from one side of the country to the capital of Yerevan. Step by step, the marchers begin to capture the hearts and minds of the Armenian public. Within a few weeks, the country erupts in a spectacular revolution, as millions of citizens take to the streets, across their neighborhoods, and stage some of the most creative, powerful, and surprising acts of civil disobedience in modern history. This incredible political drama presents an emotional & inspiring roadmap for how a true democratic movement can achieve profound change against all odds. Finally some real optimism and hope for a better tomorrow.

Here’s the official US trailer (+ poster) for Garin Hovannisian’s doc I Am Not Alone, direct from YouTube:

On Easter 2018, a man put on a backpack and went live on Facebook to announce that he was beginning a walk across Armenia. His mission: to inspire a velvet revolution — and topple the corrupt regime that enjoys absolute power in his post-soviet nation. With total access to all key players, I Am Not Alone tells the miraculous true story of what happens in the next 40 days. Hovannisian’s gripping documentary deftly follows the efforts led by journalist, politician, and activist Nikol Pashinyan to prevent the election of the country’s president, Serzh Sargsyan, as the new prime minister — a move that would essentially put Sargsyan in control of Armenia for life, making him a de facto dictator. I Am Not Alone is directed by Armenian filmmaker Garin Hovannisian, director of the feature film 1915 previously, as well as Truth to Power and TV mini-series “The Moment”. This premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year. Avalanche Ent. will debut I Am Not Alone in select US theaters on April 10th. For details, head to the .

Azerbaijani Publicity: Azerbaijanis in occupied regions respond to Armenian aggression

Korea Times, S. Korea
March 2 2020

Embassy
Azerbaijanis in occupied regions respond to Armenian aggression

The following is a statement from the Azerbaijani Community of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan. ― ED.

We, the internally displaced persons from the Nagorno-Karabakh region and other occupied districts of the Republic of Azerbaijan, have suffered from Armenian aggression for almost 30 years.

The ethnic cleansing policy against us, which was started in 1988, culminated by Armenian military invasion, occupation of almost one fifth of the territory of Azerbaijan and expulsion of more than 700,000 Azerbaijanis from their ancestral homelands.

During the aggression and occupation of our territories, thousands of Azerbaijanis were brutally killed, while many civilians went missing. The genocide perpetrated in the Azerbaijani-populated Khojaly city of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, where in one night 613 civilians, including women, children and elderly were brutally killed, has become the largest massacre committed against Azerbaijanis by invading Armenian forces. Unfortunately, the perpetrators of these crimes continue to enjoy impunity.

The world community, including the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly, has repeatedly stated its unambiguous support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognized borders, with the Nagorno-Karabakh region as its inalienable part, and has affirmed the right of return of all internally displaced Azerbaijanis to their lands.

The Azerbaijani Community of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan supports the peaceful settlement of the conflict, which would ensure the immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh region and all other occupied territories of Azerbaijan, the return of the forcibly displaced Azerbaijani population to their homes and properties in these territories in safety and dignity, the rehabilitation and economic development of these territories and the peaceful coexistence of the Armenian and Azerbaijani communities of the Nagorno-Karabakh region within Azerbaijan on an equal and non-discriminatory basis.

However, it is very hard to prepare for peace and reconciliation against the background of overt annexationist policy pursued by Armenia and the bellicose rhetoric of its leadership, manifested in the infamous statement by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan that “Karabakh is Armenia”.

Moreover, Armenia refuses even to accept the existence of the Azerbaijani community of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, denies our fundamental rights and freedoms and tries to oppose by all means contact between the Azerbaijani and Armenian communities of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. This is yet further proof of their profound contempt for human rights, which is at the core of Armenia’s policy of aggression and occupation of the territories of Azerbaijan.

Armenia tries to prevent the Azerbaijanis from returning to their homes and to colonize the occupied territories, and this is evidenced in its deliberate policy and practice aimed at changing the demographic composition as well as the economic, social and cultural character of these territories.

We call upon the world community not to turn a blind eye to the ongoing Armenian aggression and sufferings of hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis uprooted from their homes for 30 years, and re-double the efforts towards ensuring the implementation of the United Nations Security Council resolutions and the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict on the basis of the norms and principles of international law, as enshrined in the Helsinki Final Act, in full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognized borders.

Torosyan also said 52 passengers arrived in the first plane from Iran, and 82 in the second.
