The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction ruled to arrest citizen Aram Sargsyan, who was detained under the criminal case launched in regard a fake Facebook user. Sargsyan’s attorney Benik Galstyan posted the following on his Facebook page:

“Last night at 2:50 a.m. Judge Vahagn Melikyan ruled to arrest my client Aram Sargsyan.

I was surprised by the court’s decision since, during the court hearing, the assumptions of the National Security Service were completely refuted, and the court approved my claims that Aram Sargsayn has nothing to do with the acts ascribed to him and has nothing to do with the so-called accomplices. I take full responsibility and say that the judge went to the consultation room being fully convinced of these circumstances. However, my client, who has three minor children aged 4, 13 and 15, is currently at a penitentiary institution. I’ll find out how this happened. I’ll also find out how Chairperson of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction Artur Mkrtchyan is linked to this incident.

Another thing I would like to add is that my client has never been involved in community or political activities and, like him, many others can also be arrested.”

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
