Newspaper: Karabakh newly appointed national security chief trying to strengthen his position

YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of Armenia writes: Political “bargaining” are still going on in Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)].

According to our information, Samvel Babayan, who has been appointed to the post of National Security Secretary, demands that [President] Arayik Haroutyunyan increase the staff of the NSC [National Security Council], and increase the current number of staff of 4-5 by about tenfold, as he has promised to employ some of his teammates.

In addition, he demanded state protection, which had not happened before.

According to our Artsakh sources, Arayik Haroutyunyan does not want to reject and close the issue bluntly, so he explained to Babayan that new positions have already been added to the state system. But he is more concerned not so much with increasing the budget expenditure, but with strengthening Babayan’s position.

By the way, the newly appointed Minister of Justice of Artsakh, Siran Avetisyan, is also Babayan’s teammate.
