Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler, four-time European, three-time world and Olympic champion Artur Aleksanyan expressed gratitude to everyone for support after the World Wrestling Championships in Kazakhstan.

The Armenian athlete had to miss the final bout against Russia’s Musa Evloev at the championship due to the rib injury he had suffered in the 1/8 finals.

“Dear compatriots, I am very grateful to all of you for supporting me at this difficult time. Unfortunately, the serious injury prevented me from giving you the joy of victory but I assure you that I shall have many more victories to make you happy. God bless us all,” he wrote on Instagram.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
