Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Armenia Jonathan Lacott and Regional Head of the French Development Agency Gayel Assayag. This was reported by the press service of the government.

RA Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan’s office reports that noting that the meeting is taking place on a very symbolic day when the Government’s plan was approved by the National Assembly, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan emphasized the development and deepening of cooperation with France also in the process of implementing the reforms put forward by the government. Mher Grigoryan presented the main provisions of the government’s program, as well as emphasized the opportunities to develop bilateral relations within the framework of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement.

Ambassador Lacote noted that France is ready to develop relations with Armenia in both bilateral and multilateral formats. Emphasizing that French President Emmanuel Macron recently announced his intention to visit Armenia on a state visit, the ambassador noted that this visit will also contribute to the clarification and further expansion of bilateral programs.

The head of the regional representation of the French Development Agency presented the progress of the programs implemented by the organization in Armenia, as well as the readiness of the organization to develop new programs in the future in line with the reforms put forward by the Armenian government.

The interlocutors referred to the need for the formation of the capital market in Armenia, discussed the prospects for the development of French business in Armenia. The advantages of Armenia being a member of EAEU, as well as being included in the GSP privilege systems and being a member of the International Trade Organization were also discussed.
