Will Armenia be prohibited from deploying foreign troops in its territory? The speech of the Russian ambassador

There is still no final agreement on the exclusion of the deployment of military personnel of other states on the territory of Armenia. Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin said this at a meeting with journalists today.

This is how he interpreted Sergey Lavrov’s statement the day before, in which the latter referred to the biological laboratories located in the territory of Armenia. Lavrov said that Moscow and Yerevan are finishing the preparation of the document that will guarantee the absence of foreign servicemen in Armenia.

The ambassador denied the news that it is about imposing a new ban against Armenia. “Who, whom, what can forbid, in Armenian-Russian relations we are talking about two sovereign, equal states,” he said.

“As far as I know, there is a dialogue between the Armenian and Russian sides about biological laboratories. This question worries us. The dialogue with the Armenian side is quite constructive, there is mutual understanding. There can be no talk of any ban,” said Sergey Kopirkin, noting that Russia has certain concerns about the activities of American biolaboratories in Armenia.

Commenting on the situation a few days ago, RA Foreign Ministry spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan noted that cooperation in the field of sanitary control is part of the Armenian-Russian bilateral agenda.

“Armenia fulfills all its international obligations aimed at the peaceful use of scientific research in the field of microbiology,” said RA MFA spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan, commenting on the Russian MFA chief. Sergey Lavrovthe statement.

Earlier, the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan also addressed the issue, stating that the Armenian side is ready to allow Russian experts to enter these laboratories and get to know the situation on the spot.
