RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received US Deputy Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Bridget Brink.


Foreign Minister Nalbandian noted that Armenia highly values ​​the partnership relations formed with the United States. He added that the high-level contacts provide a good opportunity to discuss the agenda issues of the Armenian-American friendly partnership, the prospects for further deepening and development of interaction.


For her part, Bridget Brink noted that the United States values ​​partnership relations with Armenia and is interested in the further expansion of Armenian-American cooperation in various fields. “I am proud of the achievements of our economic partnership with Armenia. The trade turnover between our two countries increased by more than 35% during the first eleven months of last year, and we continue to witness new and large-scale American investments in Armenia,” the US Deputy Secretary of State emphasized.


During the meeting, ideas were exchanged on joint steps to be taken in the direction of political dialogue, expansion of the legal contract field, further deepening of trade and economic ties. Both sides emphasized the importance of the activities of the Armenian-American Trade and Investment Council and the works of the Armenian-American intergovernmental commission.


The head of the foreign political department of Armenia presented the latest developments regarding the process of peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh problem, highly appreciating the joint efforts of the USA, OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries, Russia and France. The Minister of Foreign Affairs added that the destructive attitude of the Azerbaijani side in the ongoing negotiations within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship format undermines the process and prevents progress.


The high-ranking American diplomat reaffirmed the commitment of the US to continue its active involvement as the co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group towards an exclusively peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict.


The US Deputy Secretary of State highly appreciated Armenia’s active participation in peacekeeping missions. The parties exchanged ideas on a number of urgent international and regional issues.
