Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan hosted Her Majesty Queen Sofía of Spain at the Government headquarters.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Pashinyan welcomed Her Majesty’s visit and expressed hope that she would leave Armenia with warm impressions. He added that visits to Armenia by two senior Spanish figures this year — first Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and now Queen Sofía — demonstrated the development of relations between the two countries.

Pashinyan said the positive momentum in bilateral relations should be used to further strengthen political dialogue.

Queen Sofía thanked him for the warm welcome and said she was impressed by the hospitality and by Armenia. Her Majesty said she would attend the Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development award ceremony in Yerevan. She also planned to visit Armenia’s historical and cultural sites and attend events dedicated to Armenian–Spanish friendship.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Pashinyan and Queen Sofía exchanged views on the further development of relations between the two countries.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
