Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan announced the upcoming delivery to the country of Czech L-39 Skyfox training and combat aircraft manufactured by Aero Vodochody.
He posted a video on Facebook during an official visit to Czechia.
On October 20, Papikyan visited the Aero Vodochody facility, where he met with company executives and discussed future cooperation.
At this time, the number of aircraft ordered, the contract value, and the exact delivery dates have not been disclosed.
In June 2026, Aero Vodochody announced the completion of production of four L-39 Skyfox aircraft for an unnamed customer who had previously signed a contract.
In September, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturian also visited the company. During the visit, special attention was paid to the L-39 Skyfox and its potential for use in training military pilots.
The company noted that Armenia has been operating the previous-generation L-39 Albatros aircraft for a long time.

The aircraft is equipped with an American Williams FJ44-4M turbofan engine and a composite wing.
It has five hardpoints for mounting weapons and can be used to train pilots of fourth- and fifth-generation fighter jets.
In October 2026, Aero Vodochody signed an agreement with Thales Belgium regarding the installation of 70-mm FZ275 guided missiles on the L-39 Skyfox for countering unmanned aerial vehicles.
