Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will visit Armenia on October 16 to attend the Leaders’ Summit to be held in Yerevan as part of COP17, the Iranian IRNA news agency reported, citing Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei.

According to the report, the Iranian president will hold meetings with the leaders of several countries participating in the summit.

The Leaders’ Summit will take place on October 16, ahead of COP17.

Yerevan will host COP17 on October 19–30, bringing together delegations from countries around the world, representatives of international organizations, and civil society to assess progress in biodiversity conservation and discuss further joint action.

The 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) will be held in conjunction with the 12th meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (CP-MOP-12) and the sixth meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing (NP-MOP-6). COP17 will mark the first global review of collective progress toward implementing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF).

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
