Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone call with his Armenian counterpart, Ararat Mirzoyan, on Monday to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation across various sectors.

The call focused on advancing cooperation in line with the two countries’ shared commitment to promoting mutual interests, according to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

During the call, both ministers highlighted the historic ties between Egypt and Armenia and stressed the importance of intensifying communication and consultations to advance bilateral cooperation.

Abdelatty welcomed the sixth session of the Egyptian-Armenian Joint Economic Committee, which was held in Cairo last December, and expressed Egypt’s interest in hosting the next session in Armenia.

He also called for coordination to organize a business forum on the sidelines of the upcoming session to help capitalize on investment and commercial opportunities in both countries.

The proposed forum is expected to support efforts to increase trade and expand cooperation in the industrial and tourism sectors, while creating further partnership opportunities between Egyptian and Armenian business communities.

The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

They underscored the importance of continued consultation and coordination on regional and global developments, as well as supporting efforts to promote security and stability and resolve conflicts through peaceful means.

Both sides also emphasized the need to strengthen coordination within multilateral organizations and international forums, reflecting their converging views on issues of common concern.
