Mount Ararat

Efforts to alter the identity and history of the homeland are continuing, with reports indicating that the Yerevan Municipality has been instructed not to publish videos showing Mount Ararat, News.am reported on Tuesday.

Various departments reportedly have been instructed to re-edit videos that contain Mount Ararat and publicize new versions.

This has been an ongoing process for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government, which claims that the symbols that have identified our nation for centuries must be abandoned and replaced by places that are within the current borders of Armenia.

Pashinyan has said that Mount Ararat is not in Armenia and that Mount Aragats should become the symbol of the country.

Earlier this year, the authorities removed the image of Mount Ararat from the stamp placed on passports when entering and leaving Armenia.

Also, the new iteration of Armenian passports, the Khor Virap monastery is depicted from such a position that Mount Ararat is not visible.
