Celebrating its 10th Anniversary in 2026, the Armenian Film Festival Australia (AFFA) celebrates Armenian and Armenian diaspora cinema.

Each year, AFFA brings together internationally acclaimed films, visiting filmmakers and audiences from all backgrounds to connect through the power of storytelling. From thought-provoking documentaries and acclaimed feature films to inspiring filmmaker conversations and special events, the festival offers a unique cultural experience.

AFFA Co-Founders and Co-Directors Margaret Chater and Hourie Demirjian said the anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate how far the festival has come while looking towards its next decade.

“Ten years ago, we set out to share Armenian stories with Australian audiences. Today, AFFA has become a celebration of cinema, culture and conversation that welcomes people from all backgrounds. We’re excited to continue building connections through the power of storytelling.”

This year the Armenian Film Festival  brings two films to Adelaide which will screen at Palace Nova Eastend on 10 and 11 October as part of the travelling program, they are:

A Winter’s Song

Synopsis : Liana, a struggling musician, is given a three-week deadline to create a record demo. She decides to take a leap of faith and travel to her late father’s homeland, Armenia for the first time, desperate to reignite her passion for music. Set during Christmas, what begins as a search for inspiration soon becomes something more. Immersing herself in Armenia’s breathtaking landscapes, vibrant traditions, and soulful music, she discovers not only a culture that feels like home but also the strength to face her doubts and fears.

Along the way, new friendships are made, family ties are reconnected, and an unexpected romance opens her up to seeing life and herself in a different light. Embarking on a journey of music, culture, and love, this challenges her heart and transforms Liana’s life forever.

The first English-language romantic comedy filmed in Armenia, this film is filled with holiday spirit and showcases the power of culture and music to change lives.

Ararat 73

Synopsis : Legendary Spartak player Nikita Simonyan becomes the coach of Yerevan’s Ararat and sets himself an impossible task: a “golden double” – victory in both the USSR Cup and the USSR Championship. To do so, he must win the trust of his new team and overcome fierce competition.

A moving historical sports drama, based on the events of the 1973 season of the Soviet Football Club FC Ararat Yerevan, regarded as the golden age in Armenian football.
