“This year was also a big competition at the Yerevan State Medical University, Faculty of Law, international relations, IT field specialties. The competition has increased a lot in the architecture profession. the number of applicants in that line has increased significantly.

As in previous years, this year there are no applicants in most of the faculties of the Agrarian University. Agribusiness is mostly competitive, but the number of applicants in other faculties is small.

According to the expert, today there is a problem in the profession of pedagogue, although 70-77 thousand students who have chosen the relevant profession are given scholarships in the field of science, but, for example, there are quite a few vacancies in the fields of “Chemistry”, “Biology”, “Geography”, “Natural Science”, “Crafts and Art”.

“It is possible that some of these vacant places have been filled, because the competition for vacant places was concluded on July 30, but there will certainly be places left.

The same situation exists in regional universities in terms of pedagogical specialties, there are also some vacancies in engineering specialties,” added Serob Khachatryan.

Speaking about the lack of interest shown by young people in vocational professions, Serob Khachatryan said that those professions that are profitable, so to speak, take most of the talent.

“If a child, for example, does well in chemistry and biology at school, he does not go to the chemistry department, but goes to the Medical University, and some apply to the Faculty of Biology at YSU.” This year, there were applicants at the Pedagogical University who applied for “Chemistry” and “Biology” subjects, but the vast majority of them were not satisfied.

In other words, most of the applicants did not meet the minimum requirements of that passing threshold. The same is the case with the “Informatics” subject, those who have a good command of it go for IT.
