Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the “blockade” of Armenia could be the beginning of the end of the EAEU. He told this to journalists after the meeting of the party council of the “Civil Contract”, “Armenpress” reports.

“Now we all note that the problem is not Armenia. The problem is not Armenia, and in the EAEU, because in fact it turns out that the Eurasian Economic Union is paralyzed and does not work. If this issue is not resolved in the near future, I predict that this will be the beginning of the end of the EAEU,” Pashinyan said.

The prime Minister spoke about the telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, noting that “Armenia has a legitimate right to form alternatives for itself.” The question, he said, “here is when this alternative should be implemented.”

Pashinyan also spoke about the national referendum on the choice between The EU and the EAEU. He noted that before holding such a referendum, Armenia should at least officially apply for membership in the European Union.

“This referendum cannot take place until there is a thoroughness on this issue. That is, before this referendum, we will have to at least apply to the EU on the issue of membership,” the prime minister explained.

As EADaily reported, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan requested an urgent telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin. This was reported by the Kremlin’s press service in its telegram channel.

Putin reaffirmed his commitment to the joint statement of the leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia on Armenia’s accession to the European Union adopted on May 29 at the EurAsEC summit in Astana. “In particular, the need to hold a national referendum in Armenia as soon as possible on joining the EU or continuing to be part of the EurAsEC was emphasized,” the press service noted.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
