At the end of last year, the sculpture of Paryur Sevak, sculpted by RA People’s Artist, sculptor Levon Tokmajyan and placed in the yard of Zangakatan secondary school, caused a great stir, at the moment it is resting in the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district, in a private area.

According to the sculptor, when the sculpture was moved from the school yard, one of the Malatia-Sebastia community expressed a desire to have the sculpture placed in the area belonging to him.

“I went, I saw the area, it was good, and in the back part was the school named after Monte Melkonyan, I was making some corrections on the sculpture, I saw students coming and looking. That’s why I thought that I can leave it there. The person who took the sculpture from me promised that he would put it on a small pedestal so that it wouldn’t stay on the ground, but according to my information, he hasn’t put it up until today. I have to go and talk to that person, understand whether he will be put on a pedestal or not.

Of course, the sculpture is quite tall, but it would be better if it were placed on a pedestal,” added our interlocutor.

He also said that he recently learned that in the area where Paruyr Sevak’s sculpture is located, events dedicated to him are already being held there.

“I also offered the person who took the sculpture to give me the stone that I brought from the mine a year ago, I paid for the stone, I said that he can pay and take it, but until now there is no response. I hired a “crane”, I brought it from Gagik Tsarukyan’s stone mine. What, Paruyr Sevak’s life was easy, was it cheap? I will probably wait a bit, understand what will happen,” emphasized Levon Tokmajyan.

It should be noted that the sculpture of Paruyr Sevak was not accepted by the local population, so the residents demanded to remove it from the school yard, saying that the sculpture does not reflect Paruyr Sevak. In Zangakatun community, a poll was conducted among the population, most of the residents, 79.9%, were in favor of removing the statue.
