Birth rates in Armenia continue to decrease. In 2025, 32 thousand 42 births were registered in the republic, compared to 33 thousand 593 in 2024 and 36 thousand 590 in 2023.
According to “Armenpress”, minister Arsen Torosyan alerted about this at the meeting of the public council attached to the RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs.
According to the minister, the fertility rate, the average number of children born per woman of reproductive age, is also decreasing.
“The decline in the birth rate continues. The fertility rate, that is, the number of children born per woman of reproductive age, is also decreasing. There are factors, for example, the age of marriage, which the state cannot directly change, however, if the fertility rate decreases further, it will be a serious problem for any country,” said Torosyan.
Torosyan emphasized that in order to overcome the created situation, it is necessary to change the public thinking and to encourage the growth of the birth rate through state support programs.
“We should try to change this situation through a change in thinking and state programs,” the minister said.
