Armenpress: Ukraine and Russia report large-scale reciprocal drone attacks

Ukraine and Russia reported large-scale reciprocal air attacks overnight on July 11. According to statements from both sides, the attacks involved missiles and large numbers of drones, with strikes reported in multiple directions, causing damage and casualties.

Ukraine’s General Staff said Russian forces launched 12 missiles and 121 attack drones and other types of unmanned aerial vehicles against Ukraine overnight on July 11.

According to the Ukrainian military, the attack involved six Iskander-M/S-400 missiles, four Kh-59/69 air-launched missiles and two Kh-31 missiles. Ukraine’s air defence said it had shot down or suppressed two Kh-59/69 missiles and 111 drones.

At the same time, the Ukrainian side reported strikes by eight missiles and seven attack drones at 11 locations. It also reported debris falling at three locations.

According to the statement, significant damage was reported in Kyiv and the Kyiv and Odesa regions, with casualties reported.

Russia’s Defence Ministry, for its part, said that 178 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones had been intercepted or destroyed over Russian territory overnight on July 11.

According to the Russian side, the drones were intercepted over the Bryansk, Kaluga, Rostov, Smolensk and Tver regions, the Moscow region, Krasnodar Territory, Crimea, Adygea, as well as over the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.

According to Russian sources, four vessels in the Taganrog Bay came under drone attack, including a tanker carrying methanol. One sailor was reported killed. The extent of the damage is being assessed.

As a result of the attacks, temporary restrictions were imposed at several airports across Russia on arriving and departing flights.
