Early this morning, masked officers of the National Security Service raided Gagik Tsarukyan’s mansion and his business companies for searches. Iveta Tonoyan, spokesperson of the “Prosperous Armenia” party (PAP), informed that a search is being carried out at the house of Gagik Tsarukyan. Later, he wrote that large-scale searches are being carried out in almost all companies included in the “Multi Group” concern, as well as in the apartments of the directors of these organizations.

In a briefing with journalists near Gagik Tsarukyan’s mansion, PAP spokesperson Iveta Tonoyan said that at the moment, large-scale searches are ongoing in dozens of institutions and enterprises that are part of the “Multi Group” concern, as well as in the apartments of the directors of these enterprises. According to him, at this moment it can be safely said that the work of the enterprises that are part of the concern is paralyzed, thousands of employees are left outside.

“If the goal of these economic repressions is to keep employees out, there will be no work, and people will lose their jobs, then I congratulate the authorities, they have made today’s goal a reality, because it is absolutely uncertain whether or when the search in this or that enterprise will end.

The investigative committee also does not consider it necessary to come up with a proper clarification as to the scope of the case in which this large-scale series of searches is being carried out,” said Tonoyan.

He mentioned that they are following the process, the events, Yerem Sargsyan, one of the lawyers, was not allowed to go up to the private house of Mr. Tsarukyan, where the search has been going on for the fourth hour already.

“We are dealing with a shameful precedent, that athletes of various sports who were holding training sessions for various international competitions in Armenia were taken out of the rooms of “Olympavan”. It is clear, isn’t it, that this is an international scandal, the International Olympic Committee, all sports federations, it is natural that they will draw attention to this circumstance,” said Iveta Tonoyan. He noted that this is probably one of the regular manifestations of political and economic terror, because after making various announcements, they have already started working today. “For us, this was normal, expected,” Tonoyan said.

He emphasized that Gagik Tsarukyan has not been engaged in entrepreneurial activity for several decades, and the companies in which Gagik Tsarukyan has shares are under trust management.

“And if we take into account that the previous time when Mr. Tsarukyan was banned from the airport, so many fictitious accusations were included in the proceedings, I think that something similar will happen in this case as well. The only goal is to put pressure on Mr. Tsarukyan,” said Tonoyan.
