A video has been spread on the Internet, showing how the Azerbaijanis opened a large table in the Armenian cemetery, feasting right next to the gravestones.
It is noted that the video was supposedly taken in some cemetery of occupied Artsakh, however Artsakh cultural heritage ombudsman, Caucasus expert Hovik Avanesov studying the video, he said that, of course, it was taken in an Armenian cemetery, but not in Artsakh, because in Artsakh there was no custom of writing the names of the deceased on the tombstones in Russian, especially in the last few years. The video was probably made in the territory of the North Caucasus.
“We cannot rule out the repetition of this manuscript in any cemetery of occupied Artsakh, especially since there were precedents in the past when a complete cemetery was destroyed by Azerbaijanis.
Azerbaijan does not have any moral value system, we have seen many cases of how a cemetery is vandalized several times and then razed to the ground. They even stepped on tombstones and then destroyed them, so the cases of vandalism in Azerbaijan have different manifestations.
First of all, let me say that the names of the deceased were not written in Russian on the tombstones of the deceased in Artsakh, besides, there were quite a few fresh flowers on the graves. I don’t think the video was made in 2023, but they are publishing it now.” 168.amHovik Avanesov elaborated in a conversation with
According to him, mostly artificial flowers are placed near the tombstones in that cemetery, if it was in Artsakh, then in 2023 there were quite heavy rains, and the flowers are clean. Apart from all this, in Artsakh it is usually accepted that the tombstone of the deceased is placed at least 6 months or a year after the death. But in that video, there was a grave, the tombstone of which was placed immediately after the death of the person, taking into account the date and day of death written on the tombstone.
“I repeat, we should not rule out that similar things are also being done in the territory of Artsakh. Let’s leave aside where the video was taken, it does not reduce the level of crime in Azerbaijan.
All this indicates that Azerbaijan’s hatred towards Armenians has reached such a level that it has no geographical boundaries. In other words, Azerbaijan shows such attitude not only in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, but also, Armenian hatred in that country is systematic and expands its geography. This is part of the systemic policy, and when addressing such issues, we should not focus only on such vile manifestations of the Armenian values of occupied Artsakh, Nakhichevan, but look broadly, wherever there is an Armenian value, there Azerbaijan can show such a manifestation,” added our interlocutor.
According to his description, a country with such behavior cannot talk about peace or go for peace, because they cannot talk about peace, but go and destroy a cemetery the next day.
“We should also consider all this from the point of view of psychological terrorism. We should take such videos and use them against Azerbaijan,” emphasized Hovik Avanesov.
