The ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as efforts to normalize relations between Turkey and Armenia, are encouraging. This creates prospects for greater stability and cooperation for our wider region. Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili announced this in his speech at the 67th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization.
According to him, today the region has great potential to strengthen its role as a trade, transport, energy and digital communication hub.
“In order to further strengthen cooperation, we should consider the current period not only from the point of view of challenges, but also from the point of view of new opportunities,” the speaker noted.
Papuashvili added that at the beginning of this month, the full operation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which is a joint strategic project of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey, is a vivid example of mutually beneficial cooperation and joint investment in the development of the region.
