RA people’s artist Raisa Mkrtchyan died

RA People’s Artist, Movses Khorenatsi medalist, 1st degree “For Services to the Motherland” medal winner singer Raisa Mkrtchyan has passed away. he was 84 years old.

The singer, who has a unique place in the history of Armenian musical art, was born in 1942 in Sevan. His creative biography is closely related to the golden age of Armenian pop singing and the most prestigious international stages.

Raisa Mkrtchyan’s professional path began with classical music education. 1963-1968 studied at the piano department of Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, in 1968 he began his long and fruitful career as a soloist of the variety orchestra of the Armenian Television and Radio State Committee, becoming one of the most beloved voices of the republic.

The works of famous Armenian and foreign composers came to life with the singer’s voice. His rich repertoire includes the famous works of Konstantin Orbelyan, Arno Babajanyan, Robert Amirkhanyan, Alexander Achemyan, Aleksey Hekimyan, Melik Mavisakalian, Nikolay Petrov, Murad Kazhlaev and others.

Raisa Mkrtchyan performed more than 400 songs. A significant part of this huge heritage is still preserved in the Golden Fund of the Public Radio and Television Sound Library of Armenia. He brought Armenian pop songs to New York’s “Metropolitan Opera” and “Carnegie Hall”.
