In the conditions of restrictions imposed by the Russian Federation, Armenia has dramatically increased the supply of flower products to neighboring Georgia, registering a historical record.
According to the latest data of the National Statistical Service of Georgia, more than 218 tons of flowers were exported from Armenia to Georgia in May of this year. This indicator, whose monetary equivalent is around 750 thousand US dollars, is an absolute record in the history of monthly supplies. Compared to the same period of the previous year, a three-fold increase in volume was recorded, and compared to April of this year, the increase was 89 percent, surpassing the previous maximum indicator of 129 tons recorded in March.
It is noteworthy that the imported Armenian products were sold exclusively in the Georgian domestic market and were not re-exported to other countries. In general, Georgia imported 342 tons of flower products in May. Although supplies from Ecuador, the Netherlands, Kenya and other countries were represented in the market with a certain amount, Armenia maintained its position as the main supplier with a significant advantage.
This sharp activation of exports to Georgia coincides with the situation in the Russian market. From May 22, “Rosselkhoznadzor” of the Russian Federation temporarily restricted the entry of Armenian flowers into the country.
Before that ban, Russia was the main market for Armenian floriculture. in the last two years, export volumes there increased 2.5 times, from 20.8 million dollars to 53.6 million dollars. Moreover, along with the growth of the physical volumes of exports, from 3,031 dollars in 2024 to 5,418 dollars in 2025, the average cost of one ton of products also increased.
