Samvel Karapetyan’s Strong Armenia Alliance, which came in second in the parliamentary elections held on June 7 with 23.2% of the vote, submitted a request on Friday to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) demanding that the results of the parliamentary elections be declared invalid.

The application was submitted to the CEC by Aram Vardevanyan, a parliamentary candidate from the Strong Armenia Alliance.

Vardevanyan told reporters outside the CEC headquarters that their submission includes what he described as “all large-scale electoral violations” that took place both during the voting and prior to election day.

“I think many have been following what is happening in Armenia in the context of post-election processes. What is currently happening should not take place in a democratic society,” Vardevanyan said.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
