The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on his party’s victory in the parliamentary elections.

The Armenian Prime Minister’s Office cited Tokayev as saying in a letter that, according to preliminary data from the majority of international observers, the elections were conducted in accordance with the country’s current electoral legislation, in an open manner, and under proper conditions ensuring citizens’ free _expression_ of will.

The President of Kazakhstan wished Pashinyan continued success in his work for the long-term national interests of Armenia.

He also stated that Kazakhstan is ready to “continue active cooperation with friendly Armenia in all areas of mutual interest.”

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev wished the Armenian people success in the development of the state, as well as peace and prosperity.

The Central Electoral Commission has released the preliminary results of the vote count from all 2,005 polling stations in the parliamentary elections, showing that the ruling party will hold a majority. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party garnered the most votes — 727,160, or 49.81%.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
