During the voting of the parliamentary elections, an incident of physical violence was registered. The representatives of the “Strong Armenia” opposition bloc reported the attack on their proxy in the Lichk village polling station, accusing the community leader and representatives of the ruling party of inciting the conflict.
According to Gohar Meloyan, candidate of the Alliance’s deputy, the incident arose after the representative of their political force urged those present to strictly observe the established rules of the electoral process. According to his assurances, the ruling “Civil Agreement” party had three proxies in the precinct, one of whom was the head of the village of Lichki. According to Meloyan’s statement, the head of the community together with his relatives used physical force against the representative of the opposition.
As of now, the victim’s condition is assessed as stable, the blows he received do not pose a serious threat to his health. What happened at the headquarters of “Strong Armenia” was described as a purposeful obstruction of the free process of voting and a manifestation of the direct use of administrative resources by the current authorities.
