Samvel Karapetyan filed a lawsuit against CP and RA

Samvel Karapetyan, the prime ministerial candidate of the “Strong Armenia” party, filed a lawsuit against the “Civil Agreement” party and the Public JSC for defamation. The reason for the lawsuit is the defamatory information about Samvel Karapetyan, the chairman of the “Strong Armenia” party in the pre-election campaign video of CP. This is reported by Maktinfo.

In particular, expressions about “oligarch”, “creating a three-headed party of war”, “deceiving the people”, “intimidating”, “buying votes to come to power”, “inciting war”, “eliminating Armenia’s independence”, “being a foreign spy” were sounded in the propaganda video of CP, which the plaintiff demands to deny, stating that they are completely defamatory. In particular, as a rebuttal text, Karapetyan demands to publish the following: “The pre-election campaign video of the “Civil Contract” party published by the public television company spread false information of a slanderous nature about the chairman of the “Strong Armenia” party Samvel Karapetyan. Denying our previously published information, we inform you that the expressions about Samvel Karapetyan being an “oligarch”, “creating a three-headed war party”, “deceiving the people”, “intimidating”, “buying votes to come to power”, “inciting war”, “abolishing Armenia’s independence”, “being a foreign spy” are completely false and do not correspond to reality.

Apart from the denial, Karapetyan demands from the court to oblige CP and Public JSC to publicly apologize to him for tarnishing his dignity and good reputation with offensive expressions. Karapetyan demands to define the following as the text of the apology: “In the pre-election campaign video of the “Civil Contract” party published by the public television company, public statements were made about the chairman of the “Strong Armenia” party Samvel Karapetyan, which defamed the honor and dignity of Samvel Karapetyan, for which we apologize to Samvel Karapetyan.

The petition was addressed to Suzanna Ulikhanyan, judge of the Civil Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan. There is still no information on whether the claim will be processed.
