Law enforcement agencies said Friday they had uncovered additional instances of alleged attempted vote-buying by representatives of the Strong Armenia Alliance.

In a press release, the Anti-Corruption Committee said it had conducted a joint investigation with National Security Service operatives and gathered information indicating that coordinators of several offices of the Strong Armenia party operating in Armenia’s Lori Province had allegedly prepared to distribute election bribes to voters in exchange for votes in their favor in the June 7 elections. The coordinators had also allegedly interfered with the free exercise of the electoral rights of several residents of the same province.

A criminal proceeding has been initiated by the Anti-Corruption Committee in connection with the case.

“Several individuals have been detained, and searches and other procedural actions have been carried out,” the law enforcement agency said.

Law enforcement agencies have uncovered a series of similar alleged vote-buying cases involving Strong Armenia in the past. Audio recordings described as evidence have been released online.
