Armenia will become a global hub for military sports for one week in 2027 after being granted the right to host the General Assembly and Congress of the International Military Sports Council.
The Armenian Defence Ministry said, adding that within this framework Armenia will become a global centre of military sports for one week.
A delegation from Armenia’s Defence Ministry took part in the General Assembly and Congress of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) held in Monaco. The organisation is the world’s second-largest multi-sport body after the International Olympic Committee, with 142 member states.
During the congress, Colonel Arman Davtyan, head of the Physical Training and Sports Service of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, delivered a report presenting Armenia’s activities within the CISM framework.
The ministry noted that Armenia hosted the CISM European Conference in 2019 and the World Military Wrestling Championship in 2024.
An agreement on granting Armenia the right to host the 2027 General Assembly and Congress has already been signed with the president of CISM.
Under the arrangement, Armenia is expected to welcome delegations led by heads of military sports and physical training from the armed forces of all 142 member countries.
