Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, who arrived in Armenia on Sunday to participate as a guest in the 8th European Political Community (EPC) Summit in Yerevan.
This will be the first time a non-European country participates in the EPC Summit.
According to the readout issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Pashinyan welcomed his Canadian counterpart’s visit to Armenia, saying: “I would like to thank you for accepting the invitation to participate in the European Political Community Summit and for taking the opportunity to visit our country. I believe your participation makes this format more effective, as it clearly broadens perspectives and viewpoints.”
PM Carney thanked PM Pashinyan and the Armenian Government for the invitation to participate in the EPC Summit.
“The Prime Minister of Canada expressed gratitude to PM Pashinyan and the Government of Armenia for the support provided to Canadians in connection with the Iran conflict. He referred to the ongoing monitoring in the region in cooperation with the European Union and expressed readiness to provide support regarding the conduct of elections. The Prime Minister of Canada noted how impressed he is with Prime Minister Pashinyan’s leadership in promoting regional stability and advancing steps toward greater prosperity for the Armenian people,” the readout said.
During the meeting, the prime ministers discussed the friendly bilateral relations between Armenia and Canada and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
