Armenian and North Macedonian Presidents hold talks in Yerevan

President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan has met with President of North Macedonia Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, who arrived in Yerevan to participate in the 8th European Political Community Summit.

“It is a great honor for us to host the participants of the European Political Community Summit in Yerevan. I am also pleased for the opportunity to meet you and hope that your visit to our country will contribute to the development of friendship and cooperation between Armenia and North Macedonia,” the President of the Republic of Armenia said, according to a press release issued by his office.

President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova thanked Khachaturyan for the warm reception and hospitality, noting that she is impressed with Armenia. She stressed that there is significant potential for cooperation between North Macedonia and Armenia, and that its full realization would become an important platform for expanding friendship and interaction between the two countries.

During the meeting, the sides discussed in detail a number of issues on the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation. They emphasized the need to deepen political dialogue and to intensify mutual visits at various levels, with the aim of making cooperation mechanisms more systematic and effective.

The parties highlighted the importance of the possible participation of a high-level delegation from North Macedonia in the COP17 Leaders’ Summit to be held in Armenia, underlining the significance of such formats in addressing global challenges.

Reference was also made to Armenia–European Union relations, with emphasis on the continuous development and institutional deepening of ties with the European Union.

In this context, the study of North Macedonia’s experience as an EU candidate country was discussed, which could be useful for Armenia’s European integration process.

The presidents stressed the importance of promoting direct people-to-people contacts, including exploring the possibility of visa liberalization, which would contribute to enhanced ties, tourism, and business relations.

The need to activate interparliamentary cooperation was also emphasized as an important factor in strengthening bilateral relations.

The sides further highlighted the expansion of cooperation in IT and education, noting that this area could become a new and promising platform for the development of bilateral partnership.
