A silent procession was held
The Armenian community in Varna marked the 111th anniversary of the genocide of the Armenian people with a procession.
On April 24, 1915, hundreds of Armenians were arrested and then executed in Istanbul, BNT recalls. Thus began the massacre of more than a million and a half people, including many women and children. The procession silently started from the courtyard of the Armenian Church in Varna and reached the monument to the Armenian refugees, to remind us of what we must not forget on this day.
Arusina Papazyan: “On this day, we must not forget history, we must not forget the personal stories of many Armenians who 111 years ago experienced the horror within the borders of the Ottoman Empire.”
Hovhannes Dyulgeryan: “Let us pay tribute to all countries, including Bulgaria, that have welcomed us with open arms in the most difficult moments of our existence.”
